Mary Worth 3844

From Funny Foreground Character, to Toby's Glory Days, there's just so much to love today. But what I love most, is Cal's continuous use of "Ms. C." It just reminds me so much of the hit ABC sitcom, Happy Days, starring Henry Winkler as the Fonz and Marion Ross as Mrs. Cunningham. Enjoy this sweet compilation video:

That’s not a foreground character, it’s a statue of Claude Bilgewater, the captain of Santa Royale Community college’s all-county champion Frisbee team back in the day.

To commemorate her glory days, Toby is wearing an outfit from that time.. Toby must be older than we thought - that shirt and hip-hugger jeans are circa 1974.

The gentleman in question just goes to show that sometimes uncommon mouths are more common than you'd think. (Perhaps like him, Toby's rulership of the field in her glory days did not include use of a mouth guard, which is why our orthodontics co-pay is through the roof).

Good one, KitKat! Claude was so good that he could catch and throw a frisbee using only his thumb a forefinger. No one else could do that. Even Toby, who went to college on a frisbee-playing scholarship.

If it's OK for Mark Trail to use Wilbur, it has to be OK for Mary Worth to use giant foreground beasts, right?

"Ms. C" looks okay on paper, but when you say it aloud it sounds like "Missy." That is not a respectful way to address either your teacher or your potential paramour.

Speaking of hip-huggers, does anyone but me remember the strip in which Mary recalled her brief marriage to Jack? It was not, as expected, set in the Gay Nineties (1890’s that is), but in the swinging 70’s, and Mary was wearing hip huggers. I’ve looked for it at Comics Kingdom, without success.

@meg, I vaguely recall that flashback with the youthful Mary and Jack in the 1970s. Horse hockey! That was revisionist history, trying to expunge Jack leaping off the Flatiron Building on Black Tuesday in 1929!

I can't believe that Toby was ever great at frisbee. Todays paper has a big article about Goleta having tons of people playing pickleball. That I can see Toby playing, but not well, of course.

Found it! 2/22/2017- Mary wearing hiphuggers like Toby’s, and giant hoop earrings…like Toby’s.

And ‘dear Jack’ was wearing a striped shirt- like Toby’s. OMG! Is Toby Mary’s daughter?

@meg, that was a lot of posts to go through. Your diligence, and Wanders’s archives, are impressive. I forgot about Mary’s scrapbook! Her hair reminds me more of Estelle’s, with the big swoopy flip.I noticed that Mary and Toby’s cruise with the Hoosiers was a couple months after, in April 2019. The Ted Miller strips popped up while I was scrolling, but I didn’t note the date. We’re overdue for the return of Ted (what a character!) and another of his schemes.
