Smarty Pants, if Jess hasn't been out of the house, how does she know about the garden park without much foot traffic, that's "a few blocks away"?

Anyway, I think I've figured it out. Jess is familiar with the park because this rental house is in the same neighborhood where she was living with Knuckles (thanks, Scottie McW!). In fact, their rental is a duplex and Jess and Knuckles live in the other half! Tess isn't very bright.

@HelenClark, I’m also wondering about Tess. What kind of life does she have that she can move to another state, rent a house, and babysit her sister? If she has a job, is she working remotely? Is she lining up social-service help for Jess, or is she satisfied to push Jess on Jared?
