Cathy, stop it! Stop it! Stop giving good advice. It just isn't allowed. You are way out of your league around here and you are totally messing things up. Before you know it, the Worthiverse will collapse in on itself like a giant star that's completed its
raison d'ĂȘtre.

Eh, I don't see that Dawn is particularly culpable here. Why shouldn't she go out and have a good time rather than spend yet another evening in the hospital cafeteria waiting for Her Selfless Heroic Man to come in and deign to give her a kind word? Yeah, she said she was tired and then went out dancing. Which Jared doesn't even know about. Big whoop.
Honestly I'd be more concerned that she thought Jared worth keeping in the first place.
Maybe faking my own death will make him fall back in love with me. I am a Weston, after all.
What Dawn really means is “I never expected Jared would because he’s such a schlub that no one else would give him the time of day.”
Another Weston characteristic is aversion to the truth. Cathy might be wearing her salad soon, with that tiny fork sticking out of her hair.
Review past interactions for possible causes.
Dawn should visit Jared with a big bag o' ribs from Woody's. That seems to do the trick.

I can see the two advice-giving angels perched on Dawn's shoulders (Mary on one and Kathy on the other). Mary will be saying "Look, dear...." while Kathy spouts rude advice Dawn could only get from someone her own age. I think we know which one Dawn will heed.
Dawn doesn't seem to be particularly broken hearted. She's just torqued off that Jared dumped her first. If Jared had half a brain, he'd forget about both Dawn and Jess and hook up with Cathy.

Tomorrow: Well, it will be Dawn and Cathy for quite some time to come, saying the same things to each other every day. But eventually, Dawn pays the "I-beat-up-people-for-money" thug from "Dirty Harry" to beat her up like Jess so Jared will come back to her ... so she can dump him immediately. I'm a Weston! Take that, sucker!
@RogerBW: You must have missed the big news. Jared has a friend!! I know, no one can believe it. Anyway, TJ told Jared that Dawn went dancing. He saw her at The Club (or wherever, I'm too lazy to look it up). Anyway, Jared does know that Dawn went dancing and lied about being tired. Yawn.
Ah, thanks Miss S. Fair enough then. I still have trouble with the way everyone in the strip fails to notice that Jared looks and acts like Jared, and that this might have consequences for his dating prospects.
