Only the volunteers at Northview Hospital wear ID badges. Patients get the luck of the draw with everyone else, e.g., “This guy’s wearing turquoise scrubs. Is he housekeeping staff? Food service? He doesn’t look like the maintenance type.”
Mary’s having her go-to lunch, Stewed Kelp.
After Mary spends the rest of the week counseling Jared, she’ll have to engineer a meeting with Wounded Pride Dawn, who’s feeling burned. That’ll take time. I hope we at least get to see Mary shove Cathy out of her way: “Step aside, amateur busybody, and make way for a professional meddler!”
This all started with Dawn looking at another guy while Jared was talking to her, and now Mary's looking somewhere other than at Jared right while she's asking if that seat is taken. Poor guy's going to develop a complex.
Hang on, the others in the cafeteria look like hospital staff. I thought that Jared told Jess that he wasn't allowed in the hospital staff cafeteria. And wouldn't Mary report Jared to hospital administration if he was eating in the wrong cafeteria?
I suspect Mary volunteers because she gets a free lunch in the hospital cafeteria, where she consults with the hospital cooking staff about where to get muffin ingredients. Jared, of course, thinks his breakup with Dawn is such big news, he's awaiting an interview with "The View"...

This is the greatest day of Jared’s life. Yesterday he felt “seen” and “heard”! Today he’s gonna feel “lectured to” and “patronized.”
