Mary’s making excuses for Dawn just as she has for Wilbur. Right now, Dawn would love to hurt Jared intentionally. She’s so burned up, she’d pull the tape off Jared’s beater of a car. She’d tie strings around the necks of his Star Wars figures and dangle them out the window, then cut the strings. She’d out-Shawna SHAWNA!! Unfortunately, after Mary’s done with Jared, she’ll track down Dawn and unleash a barrage of platitudes until Dawn agrees to smooth things over with Jared and become his friend. Then, Mary will be off to the Bum Boat with her old familiar!
Jared's really working himself up into quite a tizzy. Does he protest too much? Is he feeling guilty? I wish Mary would bring up the canoodling she witnessed...but that would make the strip too interesting.

"Oh, be fair, she was trying to pay attention to you, it's just that you have a certain zzzz…"

Didn't Jared just tell Mary that he didn't want to go into the details?

KitKat: maybe Dawn could invite Jared on a cruise? That's worked out so well for her family.
