You guys started dating
when Obama was still president, and have been
committed to each other since Matt Lauer was fired for allegations of sexual misconduct. And this is the first time Iris's distaste for the institution of marriage has come up? You two seriously need to talk more... privately, please. Please talk privately.

What is it about getting married that would change their lives in any significant way? At this point in their relationship, it's just paperwork. I don't get it. But then again, I don't get most of what goes on in the strip. Maybe she just hates paperwork.

Maybe Iris will launch into an explanation of the travails of her marriage with Tommy’s father, the awful Mr. Beedie. I’m ready for a doozy of a flashback that will explain Iris’s aversion to marriage; that would be fun for June, too. Alas, I don’t expect KM to be that creative. Stand by for more blah-blah, and frowns by Zak. And add me to the list of the commenters wondering why Zak is pushing marriage.
@KitKat -- Maybe Iris' ex shot her dog.

Iris, you dimbulb, the kid is rich! Ten minutes in front of a justice of the peace and half that money is yours.
Is that Wilbur hiding behind that palm tree?
If Iris remarries she'll lose the alimony that pays for her endless college career.
Downpuppy - I believe Iris's first husband, Mr. Beedie, is no longer obligated to pay alimony. I remember Tommy refusing to go to a hospital because "my father died in a hospital."
Wanders - Thanks for those two links and the trip down memory lane! Nothing like a good cat vomit anecdote to start the day!

That rice and gravy should be a little cold by now.
