Showing off with a high kick at the top of Piccadee Falls? Zak, that’s SO Wilbur Weston, including “OOPS…UFF!” A feeble exclamation like that should be reserved for stubbing your toe on the bottom of the fridge while getting another beer.
If Wilbur could survive a fall off a cruise ship with only the loss of a shoe, I expect KM will somehow save Zak. Maybe Ranger Bill of Piccadee Falls will catch him.
AUGH! Did something actually happen in this strip, and on a Sunday? My mind is reeling. As KitKat said, on some level I think we all know Zak may just stay in the Holiday Inn at the base of the falls for awhile and not tell anyone. If not though this may be the biggest milestone since the Kelrast Era.
As we know from Wilbur, falls of this magnitude take some time to conclude. Iris, if you throw him a prenup as he plummets there could still be time to get it notarized mid plunge!
"Sadly, Ms Beedie, Zak hadn't updated his will since he met you, so everything still goes to his parents. It would have been different if you were married, of course. Be out of the flat by midnight."
Thank heavens the narration box lied in saying they were at the top of the falls, as Zak never would have survived that. But clearly they are no more than halfway to the top, so most likely Zak will only have to spend a few weeks in the hospital, where Jared can comfort him with affirmations about his reorganized facial features not being all that bad.
I wonder why so many people fall (or almost fall) from great heights in this strip. Aldo Kelrast drove off a cliff, Entertainer Esme nearly fell off a cruise ship, Wilbur did fall off a cruise ship, and now Zak is either going off a cliff or will come very close to it.
Yes @Kit-Kat, he's dancing around for a full two panels. Reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy's joke: How do you know if someone was a red-n__k? Ans.: His last words were "Hey, everybody, watch this!"
In a brilliant stroke of random luck, Mary Worth and Dr. Jeff are having a picnic at the base of the falls. Mary sees Zak fall, and even though she’s never seen him before, she dives into the water and drags him, uninsured, back to shore. In a fit of gratitude, Zak collapses into Mary’s arms, calls her “Nan”, and asks her to marry him.
Dr. Jeff: (in his very best John Wayne voice): “Now just a dern minute. That’s my girl you’re proposing to!”
For the jukebox...kind of obvious, but still...Paul McCartney, "Waterfalls"..."Don't go jumping waterfalls/Please stick to the lake/People who jump waterfalls/Sometimes can make mistakes/And I need love, yeah I need love..."

Wilbur tie in for sure.

Nan gets everything....enjoy gaming, Nan!
Hold my beer! A phrase just meant for this moment.
I can think of a lot of words I'd say if I fell off a cliff and oops is not on that list.

Uninjured, AND uninsured.
I’ve made it a policy to never hike in an area that has “falls” in its name.

Hey, if Holmes and Moriarty were careless/stupid enough to plummet down the Reichenbach Falls, the rest of us can’t be too cautious!

Helen Clark: what, not even Hungry Grizzly Falls (next to Fat Vulture Gulch)?
