Today's word is "upcoming," though some of us may not have noticed it appearing twice in the last panel because it was only in bold once. It is good to know that their wedding has not already taken place but rather is upcoming, just like the weeks in which they will have "things" to do. Omigosh! One of the things I will be doing in the upcoming weeks is keeping track of how many times the words Piccadee Falls appear in upcoming strips. Slowly I turned...
“Omigosh, there’s so much to do to plan our upcoming small, modest ceremony! Things to do! Lists to make! People to contact! My dress! Flowers! Photographer/videographer! Invitations! OMG, where should we have it?! I need help!”
Meanwhile, Mary’s Meddle Sense begins tingling while a peculiar half-smile creeps across her lips.
I cannot wait for the following weeks of two-panel dailies giving names to be invited. Panel one: Iris: We should invite aunt Tillie. Panel two: Zak: Yes. Let's.
I suspect the one disagreement they may have over wedding guests is whether or not to invite Wilbur.. Maybe Iris can talk Zak into it by mentioning that he and Wilbur can compare notes on what it's like to be thrown overboard...
I wonder which of my brothers' weddings this will resemble.
My older brother had a destination wedding with all the traditional trimmings, but the destination was on an island in Puget Sound close to where everyone in both families lived. No one had to spend huge amounts of money to get there. I was a bit late due to ferry traffic, but I was in time for the actual ceremony. I remember thinking that if I were going to spend that much on getting married, I would elope to Gretna Green and use the money for a British honeymoon.
My younger brother married twice. His first wedding was in the middle of a field belonging to a childhood friend, adjacent to a log cabin without electricity or running water. He and his bride-to-be arrived separately and each was an hour late. His second wedding took place when he and his girlfriend were on a winter vacation in Hawaii. They were married atop their favorite mountain, and sent our parents an e-mail about it afterward. My older brother and I were not officially notified.
If I were ever to marry (not likely at this point), my partner and I would probably go down to the county courthouse in the middle of the afternoon (avoiding rush hour), and text our families from whatever restaurant we went to after the ceremony.

After reading today's strip, I too feel something upcoming. Excuse me; I'll be right back.

Yahooski: Thanks for the Niagra Falls reference.

Can't wait to see if these two drone on about the wedding on Sunday and what totally out of context quote will be used.
I hope they invite that creepy girl from New York City. And Jenna.
“Oh Zak, you simply have to make Wilbur your best man—“
(Zak and Iris laugh uproariously, as does Estelle, listening to them with a glass pressed against their shared bedroom wall)

Step by step....
