Zak's inability to listen to Iris's concerns isn't a red flag because Iris is blinded by his rugged good looks, and her need to mother a man the way her son won't allow.

Wanders, your psychological insight is light years ahead of anything in the Worthiverse, including Dr. Sweater Vest. I realize that is the lowest of low bars, but kudos to you nevertheless!
Iris is going to end up at Mary’s again, awkwardly balancing a cup and tiny plate and listening raptly to Mary’s nonsensical analysis. OH NOOO….
So, assuming that Nan had looked nothing like her, Zak's abhorrent behavior would have been just fine and dandy, and Iris would have enjoyed the evening? I'm starting to wonder if even KM is aware that there's a bigger problem here than the fact that Nan and Iris look alike.

Jeez Zak — don’t go to bed angry. Just promise Irene — I mean mommy — I mean her you’ll be a very good boy, and ask for a bedtime story.
Run Iris! Maybe Libby the one eyed cat has a friend...
Iris is forgetting the most important point ... Zak is RICH! And good looking. Who cares if he's a freak?
I see her hands have turned into lobster claws again. She must be very angry.
