Mary Worth 4200

Woah, wait a minute. Steven has already completed veterinary school and he wasn't prepared to deal with grumpy pet owners or the emotional weight of euthanasia? Where did he go to veterinary school? Santa Royale Community College?

But, but… dogs are GOOD!

Your uncle didn’t hire you to turn your back on him and complain, Steven. Just wait until a bespectacled pudgy guy with a bad comb over brings his fish into the office. You’ll really squawk then.

"And I didn't hire you to whine and throw a hissy fit. Now suck it up, Mister, and get back in there! Mrs. Bile's Doberman needs another enema, and she's not happy about it!"

P.S. Helen, your jukebox suggestion yesterday is hilarious!

Poor Steven. It's no wonder he's traumatized by having to euthanize real animals. He got his license to practice through wikiHow's I Wannabe a Pet Vet online program where they demonstrate how to euthanize an animal using drawings of Garfield and Marmaduke.

I haven't ever yelled at a vet. But I have often wanted to yell when I got the bill.

Last year my 6-pound, 15-year-old Brussels Griffon was attacked by a coyote. I was out of the country. My pet sitter took her to a vet where they moved heaven and earth, without my permission. It cost me over $2000 to have that sweet girl finally put down.

Wonder what Green Steven would think of that.

Aha, so he does have training. In that case, this is what he signed up for.

I actually teach university biology courses and laboratories and a lot of my students want to get into medicine or veterinary medicine. To even be considered for admittance to veterinary school, students usually need to show that they completely understand what being a veterinarian is really like. Typically, students will job-shadow a vet for a while, or will volunteer at a vet clinic. I've run into a few of my students at vet clinics when I take my pets in.

Nephew Steven must have gone to the least selective vet school on Earth if he didn't understand that euthanizing very old or sick animals will be part of the job. People also get upset over big bills. It's all surely stressful to deal with, but he should have expected it.
