Mary Worth 165

I don't mean to pry, but...

Here we go. I am trembling with anticipation. What could the disagreement be? And what special skills will Mary Worth bring to restore familial equanimity and grant a dying woman's last wish?

I think it is time for another Not-a-Real-Contest contest. Submit your guesses as to what Ron and Richie (or whatever their names are) find so important as to agitate their mother on her hospital death bed. The best answer as ruled by the Condo Board will have the high honor of selecting a new song for the Charterstone Jukebox.

"When I asked how long I have to live, the doctor told me not to start any long books." Mary responds by giving her War and Peace then stealing her watch.

I think the boys are fighting over the remote control to the TV.

Perhaps it's time to start letting them solve these little problems by themselves. Even if Mom can't help getting involved, is it really necessary to call in Super Nanny in the form of Mary Worth?

birdie: You're such a diplomat! The Boys are actually fighting over who gets to pull the plug on Mom. And what's worse, "La Bella Donna" has neglected to finish writing her will, thus is shuffling off this mortal coil intestate, so they're also at odds over who gets to be the executor of the estate.

Mary, meanwhile, has realized that Donna has extraordinary super powers [Note that she managed to "speed read" that closed book!] and is now trying finish off the old girl herself.

They are in disagreement about whether or not to bring in Hospice. Allow thier mother to die with dignity or eat up all the insurance money keeping her alive in the hospital? One of the sons runs the hospital.

Ron: "Tastes great!"
Richie: "Less filling!"

toonhead, good guess. I'm going with a variation on the medical care theme. Hippie Richard, who owns an Eastern bookstore, is pushing for letting his naturopath treat their mom with a combination of crystals, accupuncture, and those bowl things.

The conservative Ron, a "businessman," wants his mom to be treated by traditional Western medicine, fighting with all she has left to stay alive as long as possible, even if it means that Mary has to spend each of her hospital volunteer shifts reading Chicken Soup for the Soul books to the comatose mother.

Wait. So Mary is going to help meddle in this old woman's meddling? She's a meddler in meddling? Doesn't that sort of violate the laws of thermodynamics or something?

It's an Oruborus of meddling.

They're arguing over how Mary grew a third arm...

One of them wants her to take the red pages, and the other is rooting for the blue pages.
