Mary Worth 197

I did not expect this. It's a hard thing to wake up and find Donna Amalfi dead. Dying alone while her boys are out drinking coffee together. It is just so sad. Not being there when she left, I feel like I need to find some closure. But how? But how?

And why do I feel like singing Forever in Blue Jeans? I'm adding it to the Charterstone Jukebox right now!

Hah! Saw this coming back at Panel 193...now just waiting for Mary to show up.

Spike: you mean to show up waving the new Will & Testament in which Donna leaves everything to Mary?

I am only sorry that we will not get to see the funeral service where Ron & Rich start brawling and knock over the coffin, spilling Donna's frail corpse onto the ground as the horrified mourners look on aghast.

I still miss Chester the beagle but all in all he had a lucky escape - everybody else who meets Mary seems to end up dead. Now that Donna has been smothered with a pillow while her sons were chatting over coffee are we going to see Drew's return? Will he have recovered from his emotional turmoil by becoming a ladyboy?

Wait a minute Shandyowl... are you saying that Donna's death was unnatural. There were no witnesses... and since I still believed she faked her entire illness... you may be on to something.

wanders --

You said she was faking! YOU SAID SHE WAS FAKING!! So I left the room for five minutes. Now she's dead. (Sob!)

I blame you.

On the other hand, the cafeteria here makes a surprisingly good cup of coffee.

shandyowl: Re: new will & testament. I think Mary would rather spend her time meddling in the lives of others rather than rewriting a will--come to think of it, a simple codicil would suffice under the circumstances. :-) I'm looking forward to The Boys next arguments: organ donation/nondonation, burial/cremation, funeral/memorial service, etc. I'm also sure Mary will rear her ugly head, and chime in with a story about her own mother's death, [complete with platitudes, of course]. This can drag on for another several weeks, or be a mercifully short story arc.

wanders: Donna was looking extremely creepy in Sunday's final panel, but i don't think she faked her own death. Thanks also for the dual Ron/Braveheart mention in your writeup yesterday. I was thinking the same thing as i read yesterday's installment...

boojum: Glad you had such a quick recovery, after making those horrid accusations against wanders!. Guess you must have met up with Mary Worth in the cafeteria? ;-)

So that wasn't a smile, but a death grimace? I thought it looked pretty creepy.

Now she's with Aldo in that great comic strip in the sky.

Regarding Sunday's smile under the oxygen mask, she reminded me of Kim Hunter in Planet of the Apes for some reason.

Donna Amalfi's greatest guilt trip ever: dying on Mother's Day. Every year, it will twist like a hot knife inside the souls of Ron/Rich and Rich/Ron. It was a masterful stroke of meddling from beyond the grave.

So masterful, it raises questions...

My theory? Mary killed Donna. The idea of meddling in two peoples' lives for the rest of time, with the pull of a single life support plug, was like a hypnotic siren's call to Mary Worth. She was helping by murdering Donna, can't you see? She was helping!

The Method: Yanking life support power line.

The Means: Talking only two witnesses into making up so they leave room for extended chat. Using candy striper status to move about Donna's room freely without drawing suspicion.

The Motive: Meddling. Always with the meddling.

The Murderer: It was Mary Worth!
