Hmmm... this is starting to remind me of something... Oh, yes, that's right:
Mary Worth rejected Aldo Kelrast because of her feelings for Jeff, but now that Jeff's disapproval of Mary's meddling has come out in the open, she's giving him the same treatment. Watch out, Jeff, or Mary might call on Dr. Chin Beard to instigate an intervention that will ultimately result in your drunken, fiery death.
Personally, I think Mary understated it when she called her need to help others a "compulsion." It's a flat-out addiction. When you place your drug above your relationship, that's a sure sign you have issues.
Mary, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Like that'll ever happen.
(Speaking of Dr. Chin Beard, it's been over a year since we've seen Professor Ian Cameron, if you don't count a brief background cameo at the last pool party. Bring back Chin Beard! Bring back Chin Beard!)
And now for something completely different: I love reader feedback, and since only a few of our many readers actually leave comments, I thought I'd give you a simple way to respond to each post. I've set up a star rating system using Outbrain. You can rate posts using the stars below. Have a favorite post from the past? You can go back and rate any past post as well. Just don't let the new stars replace any comment you'd like to leave! Thanks for being a loyal reader of Mary Worth and Me.

Yes, please go and please don't let the door hit your doctor ass on the way out.
wanders: Terrific diagnosis re: compulsion/addiction. Thanks for pointing out that elephant in the living room!
It's also amazing that Dr. Jeff isn't turning into stone, given Mary's Medusa-like glare.
That Aldo flashback panel is freaking me out. How come only his left sleeve is colorless, if she just slammed a glass door in his face? And where's his left arm?
You are so right about MW and her addiction. I would love, love, love to see the intervention you suggest. "I don't have a problem! I can stop anytime I want to! As someone once said, 'It... We... One can only...'" [breaks down in helpless sobs]
I want to know where I can get a cool "Moy and Giella" shirt like Dr. Jeff has, seen in the second panel.
What is going on is clear. The will has not yet been settled. Donna had more money than Dr. Jeff, who spent his on Asian orphans. Mary knows where her meddling will get the best results.
And when she's done, she can always come back to Dr. Jeff. It's not like someone else is going to scoop him up. Who else would be able to spend days on a boat exchanging platitudes? It takes a special woman.
I had a lot of fun with that Aldo panel when it first came out.

*sigh* I miss him so.
Can I post that link?

Mary Worth looks totally insane in that picture. Blink, dammit! You're freakin' me out here!
This is the point in the strip where things go from numbingly tedious to weirdly uncomfortable. I am so there. This sort of confrontation -- with layers of denial, hypocrisy and ludicrous motivations slathered on like thick BBQ sauce -- is why I read this jalopy of a story vehicle in the first place.
It almost makes that stupid little dog story and that thirty page monologue about having a bowl haircut worth sitting through.
BBQ sauce ... mmmmmm ...
Birdie,
As far as Moy & Giella casual wear goes, this has always been my favorite.
I feel for Jeff; I really do. One minute he's got himself a lovely girlfriend, and the next, he's being uncerimoneously tossed out her house just because he had the nerve to question her "sacred compulsion" to ruin other people's lives. That's harsh, Mary. Real harsh.
Actually, on second thought, stratch that. Jeff is much, much better off away from Ms. Mary "Psychopath Meddler" Worth.
Now's your chance, Jeff! Run for the hills!
