Oh, Mary Worth, we may never know what was going on in Lynn's mind, for tragically she was born without thought balloons. But, yes, we are asking the same question: "What happened just now?" Rarely does a day go by when I read Mary Worth and not ask myself that very same question.

I believe that Moy intends for us to contrast Mary and Frank's thought bubbles. Caring Mary is to be interpreted as being concerned only for Lynn's well being. Evil Frank is to be interpreted as being concerned only for the potantial consequences to Lynn's skating career. Moy seems to be totally unaware of how creepy her portrayal of Mary is thus far. I swear that the poor girl doesn't have a clue that Mary IS the problem. Furthermore, passing out during a practice would have absolutely no effect on her "competitive standing". All together now: OH!
Wow, I thought Lynn was a competitive skater, but now I realize that she is involved in the even more rough and tumble world of competitive standing. It's all over, kid.
I think Lynn's big secret is about to be revealed- and I think it's that she's pregnant!
Maude: I think you're right.
Impossible! Lynn's not "with child." No one does anything in this strip even mildly resembling contact that could result in children! Let's not soil Mary's world with such icky ideas!
Thank you, Robert.
If this was Grey's Anatomy (on ice!) she'd have an ectopic pregnancy of her rival's father's girlfriend's murdered son. But this is MARY WORTH. She just had some questionable sushi at the Bum Boat.
The Bum Boat has a new branch in Lake Tranquil! I hope Mary has a chance to check out the loser skater special...cheese and failure on ice!
"Lake Tranquil". My eyes roll involuntarily every time I read that.
Robert--if memory serves, MW did have a story line back in the late 60's/early 70's of her taking an unwed teenaged mother under her wing. For MW weeks (months?), she lovingly guided (see: brow-beated) that girl into making the *only* choice that was *right*: have the baby, make Mary even more self-righteous and smug, and then live a life of shame and despair. Lynn--go into a coma NOW!
"Lynn--go into a coma NOW!"
Better yet, drive your car off a cliff, ice skates buried a layer of empty beer cans on the floor of the passenger side. I don't know if Mary could meddle a coma patient back into consciousness, but I'm willing to bet she could. Death is the only surefire way to prevent the meddle (or is it?).
Wanders, we need you! What about the Lounge/Locker transformation?
Lounge / locker appear to be two different locations: See change in color of doors. But it makes me wonder what purpose it served Uncle Joe.
Ethel Mertz, I didn't realize Mary Worth had ever touched on a topic like unwed teen pregnancy! Did Mary shame the girl into a shotgun marriage to the father, thus leading to a happy ending?
Wanders, we're missing your insightful analysis of recent developments! Yesterday's strip mentioned the doctor unable to explain something even more troubling in Lynn's condition. And today, Frank avoids this topic and tries to make us believe he cares about Lynn as his daughter rather than future financial security. What's really happening?
Ethel: Thanks for the insight into the Mary of yesteryear. however, I want to point out that that was then and this ... is Moy.
I'm pretty certain that the girl gave the baby up for adoption at Mary's "gentle urging" and left town. But since I can't quite recall, it could be that I stopped reading MW because, even as a very naive pre-teen, it seemed pretty bogus to me that she was still 6 months pregnant more than 2 years into the storyline.
I can't believe we still don't know what's wrong with Lynn! Even Judge Parker would have revealed the diagnosis by now!
