Is it just me, or does Mary look completely disinterested in that panel?
"Uh-huh... yeah.. oh nice... yes, beautiful... oh really... well now... ok, just shut up now Toby, unless you have some sort of dilemma for me to meddle in..."
I've said this before, but Mary needs to sign up for a seniors' motorcoach tour and go out and see the world a little bit.
Goodness knows, her meddling lately has been mediocre at best. She's going heavy on the black eyebrow pencil and drinking too much Scotch. Being around some peers her own age might be refreshing for her. But then again... maybe Santa Royale IS paradise on earth. (Plus, I shouldn't wish Mary on those other seniors and ruin THEIR trip, should I?)
"You and Ian are lucky!", Mary started to say. Which leaves me wondering what LUCK would have to do with it. It's almost as though Mary wanted to spice up the conversation but was interrupted: "You and Ian are lucky to have avoided the overpriced ghost tours or foot-and-mouth."
Or maybe Mary is itching to get straight to the gossip: "You and Ian are lucky to have missed Delilah FLIRT WITH HER OLD BOYFRIEND."
Maybe Mary's thinking of the time she posed for this picture (courtesy of a link at The Comics Curmudgeon) depicting the entire piece of artwork in Charley's condo:
I love the picture. Mary's dress is especially 80's.
Maybe this story is going be about Mary hittin'the hooch a little too much these days and has to go to Santa Royales local AA meeting. Boy could she meddle there!

Wow, color coordinated food!!! Bananas the color of Toby's hair and grapes the same color as her v-neck sweater.
Oh, is she eating her sweater?
From the full strip I see they're supposed to be fruit, but at first glance I thought we were seeing the return of salmon squares!

Mary looks a little lost in her seven and seven.
She is thinking to herself "Shut up, Toby - did you say Scotch?"
Does Mary look rather wistful, almost tearful, as she reflects on beautiful scenery? Are we about to be treated to some reflections on days gone by?
If the Tourism Board of Scotland sees Mary's anhedonic expression, they're going to want the £15 back that they paid Moy to write this advertisment.
