I love it! The little kid has none of the disarming, witless affectation of a menacing Dennis, yet he's going to be blamed for this first volley of aggression between the only two houses on the road.
Meanwhile, Mary fawns over a goofy-yet-random-somehow married couple while I can only sit back and try to recall why the hell they ever invited her along on the trip.
She adds what to this again? I mean beyond her obvious skills to insert herself into the subversive, hidden evil machinations that you KNOW the neighbor women are hiding?

I love that someone who didn't know the previous strips would think Brick was serious about bodies in the basement. For a great address and good property values, what's a few dead bodies?

I'll bet the sisters next door are making and selling a health drink, using the family's secret recipe, a process which requires a still.

The neighbor is dressed rather glamorously, for hanging out the wash. I'll bet she vacuums the living room in pearls and high heels!

Well Maude, few women are liberated enough to wear trousers, you know.
