Mary Worth 866

I've been paying more attention to the National League Divisional Playoffs this week, so I was surprised this morning when Jill arrived in street clothes. All week I thought it was Jill greeting them at the Santa Royale Bridal Solon already wearing the dress she had picked out for Adrian.

Today's Full Strip

Funny, making the strip go pink for the cause adds an even creepier note. But Jill stands no chance; Mary has her note pad out already!

Santa Royale Bridal Salon still carries the dress my mother wore in 1948. It's the one behind Adrian in Sunday's last panel.

kathyo - Me too! Married in 1957, my mother wore the dress featured in panel 3. Or maybe I'm remembering my first communion dress.

I really like Mary's hair today in the last couple of panels. She looks years younger. Maybe Jill Black will suggest she permanently go pink.

Ooo, and speaking of Jill, judging from her posture in todays introduction, I think Vicki was right about that "B" word.

heydave@2.23p - all the strips from that company are pink today because of breast cancer research. Since I read Apt-3G, Judge Parker, Mary Worth, and Rex Morgan (in that order), I didn't realise WHY everyone was pink until I saw the pink ribbon denoting breast cancer research til Mary's column.

I can't wait to see "Jill Black" tomorrow...

Don't you just LOVE how every store and mall in Santa Royale starts with "The Santa Royale...(fill in the blank)". Apparently no creativity is allowed in SR unless, of course, you are naming a restaurant. (However, to offset that exception, you musn't offer creative menu items! Heaven forbid!)

In this case, with it's high-priced realistic mannikins, you MIGHT get confused and think you were in Beverly Hills, but NO, the sign says "Santa Royale Bridal" so you know all is well and you have not left the city limits. Oh, this must be so reassuring for the dull citizens of SR. But then along comes Type-A Jill to stir things up... *shaking my head* Mary isn't going to like this one bit.

Apologies, my first comment had an egregious grammatical error. Resuming snark:

I'm not so sure those are mannequins. At second glance, I think they're intended to be other blushing brides sayin' yes to their dress!

@Miss Emish 7:46: I am so glad to see that someone else here watches "SYTTD." I think Jill Black is going to make all of those selfish, evil, possessive mothers, sisters, and mothers-in-law look pretty lame.

Oooohh, who is Jill Black? I will not sleep tonight. Maybe it's CHER!

The Breast Cancer Awareness is cool, though.

Remember Seinfeld? the show 'about nothing'. Well,a comic strip about nothing doesn't really work as well. What do you think?

The panel 3 dress: I'm not sure it isn't a *nurse's* uniform. I can just imagine Florence Nightingale with her lamp in that little number...

And Mary is *already* disapproving of Ms Black -- she's NOT PUNCTUAL. You can SEE the steam coming off, and it's not Dr Jeff's dry ice / coffee.

Ohhhh, this is gonna be fun...

Since this is supposedly the next day, it's a relief to see that at least Adrian changed clothes. Apparently, Mary didn't bother.
