Mary Worth 902

Nothing will delight me more than a watching Mary Worth and Jeff Corey dance for the next few weeks. I am not a huge fan of the dancing shows on television, "Dancing With the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance," and the like. Basically, I don't think TV does justice to the art form. You lose so much of the beauty and immediacy of dance through the medium of television. But a comic strip? I can't think of a better venue for watching two old people practice dancing.

Today's Full Strip

What will it be? The foxtrot? The Charleston? The Lindy Hop?

I can't wait.

But my "delight" face is somehow different than Mary's.

It should be interesting with Jeff's missing leg and humongous cane....

Mary & Jeff have been ''dating'' for a million years, and they've never danced together before? Makes one wonder what else they've never done before. I can't wait to see the rest of the wedding party! I wonder of Adrian's other friends are as sarcastic and bitter as Jill?

Oh, the drama of watching Jeff courageously take to the dance floor with a missing leg and bad knee. Is Mary's compassion without limit? We are sure to be on the edge of our seats for months to come.

I have to give Moy credit. I certainly didn't see this plot twist coming.

Ok, Moy and Giella. Focus. FOCUS! This story is getting so fractured, I don't know what to expect from day to day. I wouldn't mind a bit of variety and the occasional surprise, but there are so many unresolved issues. Did snarking Jill, who suddenly went missing, just go back to work or is she in some bat cave plotting evil deeds? Is Adrian, who totally forgot that she actually has a job after "cutting back" on her hours, off somewhere petting puppies? Why has Mary not gotten one good meddle in? Who amputated Jeff's left leg? Well, I do have a hunch on that one.
Seriously. Focus!

I am delighted as well. Can't wait to see Mary dancing with the recently and inexplicably crippled Jeff.

I hope Jill gets drunk at the wedding and topples over the wedding cake. Unless Jeff does it first, hobbling unsteadily through the Santa Royale Catering Hall.

So I guess Jeff is worried about Jill making fun of him when he dances with Adrian at the reception.

"Ha Ha Ha Ha, doesn't Adrian's father look silly swaying to Debbie Boone in rented pants!? Ha Ha Ha Ha!"

Something curious is afoot! Why has "Citizen Cane" even been introduced into the storyline at all?
I mean, Jeff could just as easily have been sitting by his cozy fireplace, thinking "my dancing moves are rusty, I should ask Mary Worth to help me practice". But no...

You know what I think? I think Jill is going to say something INAPPROPRIATE about Scott's deceased dad (Jeff's starry-eyed "man-crush" , remember?) and then Jeff will BEAT the living daylights out of Jill at the reception with the cane! That would be so awesome!

And what if Scott's boss (and wedding guest), "Chief Big Pockets", has to step in and arrest Jeff!? Then he and Jill could fall in love? Hey, it could happen-- "Love is for everyone. You just have to connect."

Did Mary jump the gun with her delight and accompanying hand gesture? Jeff didn't actually come out and ask her to be his practice partner.

Delight is such a wonderful emotion and it registers on Mary's face so well.

And why does everyone use their hands for big expressive moods, yet not one high five or fist pump do we see?

I hope Wilbur is invited to the wedding. I hear they are serving ham sandwiches on white bread at the reception.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Remember, food safety first! Heat those salmon squares to an internal temperature of 170 degrees. And keep your chin napkins handy. If you clean your plate, there's a big bowl of cookies for dessert.

A better cartoonist would have thought of this, but wouldn't a Charterstone wedding be a great opportunity to bring some of the old characters back together once more?

The guest list should include the Amalfi brothers Richie and Ron, Charlie Smith and Delilah, Toby and Ian of course, Wilbur, Dawn, and his son, Bonnie? Johnson and her husband, Mike and Jenna, Chester and his new owner.

Maybe they'd let Ted Confey out of prison to come to the wedding. Maybe Aldo Kelrast could even come back from the dead.

@trixietrudy -- Good one, lol! I'll be sure to eat up so I enjoy Mary's stale cookies. Yum.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

All that dancing, holding each other close, gazing into each other's eyes - it'll arouse the passion in Dr. Jeff.
Virtuous Mary won't permit any hanky-panky without a ring so...I smell DOUBLE WEDDING!!!

Anonymous said...

Yes! double wedding and Jill can help plan them both. Awesome!

I was thinking that Jill could come to the wedding with Dr. Good as her escort.
