The 2010 Worthy Awards

Yes, dear readers, it's time once again for the annual Worthy Awards. I'm pleased to announce that the Condo Board has done an excellent job of selecting this year's nominees just in time for Christmas, and now it is your turn to choose the winners! So make your selections before January 8, 2011. The awards ceremony will be held on January 10, 2011.

Wanders, I have mixed feelings about the awards this year. I really wanted to vote for both "chin napkin" AND the lush-on-the-phone lady, but I couldn't. I wish "chin napkin" had been placed in the Best Costume category...

Can we vote more than once?

Oh, and Happy Christmas to those who celebrate and Happy Christmas to those, like me, who don't but love to see others do so.

How can one pick amongst one's children? Sure, sometimes those children are very "special" and sometimes they just act buzzy. But can't they all get competition trophies?

Happy Holidaze!

Will the Condo Board accept nominations from the floor? My vote, for Inane Line of the Year, goes to "The past only exists by how you remember it" (Mary Worth to Jill).

Also in this category, "Your mother said I had a family to take care of...That I couldn't be a vigilante too!"

P.S: My interesting verification word today: "punhies."

I completely forgot about Lonnie and his dad. Thanks for the memories!

The featured guest category is a tough one...I agree with phoebes that I'd like to vote a time or 12 for all of the candidates!

Great job putting this together! Thanx!

We have to choose between Helen and Jill? How is that even possible??

It was so good to see Wilbur and Kurt frolicking again! Such happy times.

Merry Christmas everyone!

But where is BBJ? waiting outside Maises for the after Christmas sale? She got stiffed.

Shouldn't Chin Napkin be an Established Character by now? He has appeared in two storylines this year!

Re: Sunday's strip. THIS is getting dressed for the wedding? Does that orange shirt have all the features Adrian loves?

Deciding how to vote this year is going to be really difficult, but my New Year's resolution is to tackle the difficult things first, so this is going to be a great start!

Umm...I'm confused; is Jill part of the wedding party as Mary indicated, or not? Because if she is, the announcement to Adrian from Mary that Jill won't be attending is actually a pretty big deal the morning of the wedding! "Oh, dear. Scott will just have to fire one of the groom's men so everything matches up. La di da. Thanks again for lending me the necklace that looks like all the ones I already have."

Belated holiday wishes to all celebrators! Hope it was wonderful!

Really tough choices. (But such happy memories!)

Great categories, and great nominees! I HAD to vote for Chin Napkin, despite my delight at seeing Helen Clark again.

And how disappointing that the 12/25 strip didn't take place in Restaurant where Mary and Jill could have taken a break from the hangover (couldn't Chin Napkin have made another guest appearance?).

The only travesty is that there can be only 1 panel of the year in 2010.

I see, in today's panel, that Mary took her pearls back that she had given Adrian for 'something borrowed' and left her with a locket.

STOP CONFUSING Mm-

Oh wait, stop. It's Karen Moy, not you. I'm still confused..?

Since we know ahead of time that Jill won't be at the wedding, the only drama we have to look forward to is whether the groom will be wearing orange. My prediction: the wedding will be a hasty affair, leaving Mary Worth and Dr. Jeff Corey sipping a hot beverage on Mary's sofa, hashing out the highlights one last time, with Santa Royale's varied landscape in the background, as we anticipate 2011's first exciting storyline.

PS: Helen Clark was the most fun I had with Mary Worth all year. Must she lose out to Chin Napkin? And what about the all-important category of Best Cameo? I nominate Citizen Cane.

I predict an exotic honeymoon as a gift and apology from Jill.

djangosmom said...

hmm. that's interesting duckduck.

Vicki said...

@duckduckgoose -- Yep, I was thinking along the same lines, as to WHAT Jill could possibly do to make up for her drunken tirade! An exotic honeymoon came to mind, although this will undoubtedly cause the first heated argument of their young marriage.

Scott: But I wanted to "keep it local".

Adrian" Yes, but I wanted an EXOTIC honeymoon, and besides Jill is paying for everything!"

Scott: Oh, I see... Now you want to give Jill control over our honeymoon! It's not enough that she ruined our rehearsal dinner dance!? You don't even care what I want. Besides I already planned out everything and made us reservations, etc, etc..

And so it begins.....

The nominations are a great reminder of what a wonderful year it was in the Worthiverse and here at Wanders' blog. Heartfelt thanks from me to the best collection of commenters on the interweb and, of course Wanders himself.

Jimmmy Joe stole my thunder. I was just going to say that this was a banner year for Mary Worth. Many thanks and a happy New Year to Moy, Giella, and of course, Wanders!

Just a quibble about Adrian's thought balloon on Thursday: "I can't believe I'll soon be marrying..." I would say that, when walking down the aisle at her wedding, she is already marryng. Perhaps she means, "I'll soon be married to...

djangosmom said...

I can't wait to read Scott's thought balloon!

While I'm enjoying the Worthy Awards panels (each day I find something new to smile about), I can't help but wish the anti-climactic wedding weren't getting such short shrift. Like today's panel - some of the guests look like full storylines unto themselves! Such as comb-over guy on the right of the first panel, who should either lose weight or unbutton his (bright blue!) suit jacket, and who looks like he's wearing one of those glasses-note-mustache disguises. And I LOVE the blond bespectacled gent in the second panel. What would HIS thought bubble say?? And if only we could switch scenes in the middle to see what gutter Jill is sitting in right now.

Miss Emish said...

As a survey methodologist, I can't tell you how much I enjoy that the order of the presentation of the panel nominations is randomized. Reduces bias!

Jill should offer to be the surrogate mother for Adrian and Scott.

Robert said...

Considering Jeff is walking Adrian down the aisle, neither of them look particularly happy about the wedding. Shouldn't he be beaming with pride, and shouldn't she be glowing with love at the thought of becoming Mrs. Scott Hewlett? Is Giella a robot who doesn't get human emotion?

Imogene said...

What a beautiful wedding! The bride's father, wearing an appropriate black suit, and his elderly girlfriend have handed the bride over to the groom, who is also wearing black (not orange nor electric blue.) The ceremony is being officiated by the Reverend William Shakespeare, off camera, and witnessed by two tiny black-and-white people sitting in a jury box.

If this reminded me of my own wedding, I know I would have more than one tear in my eye.

djangosmom said...

I am so glad the men are NOT wearing those damned orange suits!

kathyo said...

Adrian must have lost her locket (something old?)during her trip down the aisle. That doesn't bode well for this marriage.

Robert said...

Great job, Giella, depicting Adrian and Scott's hand-holding! As awkward as the marriage will undoubtedly be!

heydave said...

so i tuned into the comic to see the wedding.
Now I feel soiled, disillusioned and ultimately, sleepy.

Alright! Even the church has pink curtains. To me that says that all will be well in the New Year!
