Drew! Oh, Drew! You made it. I can't tell you how excited I am to see you. You seem to have really matured since you left for Vietnam. You've already said two sentences without talking about how great you are.
The stars have aligned; the prophecies have been made. Fate must be fulfilled. Jill will show up at the reception to apologize, see Dr. Drew's stunning good looks, and fall instantly in love with him. You can't stop love, friends.
As someone who has been rooting for a Return of Drew Corey story ever since he headed off for Vietnam, I am of course thrilled to see him FINALLY make a return appearance.
And in Jill Black, he may have at last found a woman exciting and interesting enough for his devilish charms and massive egoism...unlike Vera "Bland" Shields or Dawn "Boring" Weston.
So here's to a year full of Drew/Jill romancing! The future's looking bright, friends...
"Horrible flight delays due to the holiday travel rush, plus, Mary, you wouldn't believe what I had to endure going through airport security in Hawaii. Doctors shouldn't have to put up with that."
I have to say that while the thought of another year of Drew Corey lovin' seems intriguing, how are Jill "Abandoned at the Altar" Black, and Drew "Vera! Dawn! I can explain!" Corey a good fit? Drew's two-timing ways and Jill's distrust of men make them about as poor a match as two people could possibly be! However, in the Worthiverse, you may be right.
Plus, I can't imagine Jill would agree to have her wedding reception at a "Catering Store." But would the combined income of a charity doctor and a hospital administrator allow for more luxurious (or just adequate) accommodations? I smell "first quarrel."
Maybe that's why she's going to take the front window out in a fiery crash--to prevent any future wedding receptions being held there. (Honestly, what's up with holding a wedding reception at a storefront caterer's?)
Dr. Drew: I was totally taken by surprise at the large number of people flying right now, apparently to get home for a festival called C-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s. If only I had known about this alien custom...
I wasn't yet an MW reader when the Dr. Drew storyline took place, so I guess I have some catching up to do! But I can tell already that Drew is pretty selfish. How could he not have planned to arrive at least the day before the ceremony to make sure he wasn't late for his sister's [poorly timed] holiday wedding?
at this distance that could be jeff, could be scott. hell it could be the priest. I'm still trying to work out what could possibly be on the sign behind them as CONGRATULATIONS! won't fit ... unless they changed the font in the middle ... or there is some Santa Royale contraction for the word "CONGRTLTONS" ... which even my text messaging daughter would recognise. I too root for a Drew/Jill inspired AA-based recovery, foundiung of new hospital in Saigon requiring sassy opinionated woman who likes purple.
Hey, whose hand is that? It's closer to us than either Dr. Drew or Mary Worth, yet it is clad in a dark suit--as if Dr. Drew had a rubber right arm and were doing a massive reach-around Mary Worth. Perhaps he rushed back to be with someone other than his sister and Jill is just a red herring...
NATHAN! I AGREE, IT MUST BE SO! And Wanders, why do you think we're so ardently hoping for such a romance? Both..overcoming their deepest fears....together....
I would expect a family of doctors to throw a more elaborate and formal wedding reception than this one at the catering deli, with leftover prom decorations. The Coreys must be very frugal people.
Speaking of decorations, I believe that banner is supposed to read "Conga Line" but someone put an "s" where the final "e" is supposed to be. Not that there's room on that tiny dance floor/stage for a conga line anyway.
OF COURSE Drew and Jill are destined to be together! Haven't they both learned how to love, courtesy of Mary's instruction? Now Jill and Adrian will truly be sisters!
You know, the choice of a tacky, depressing reception venue with the misspelled "Congrations!" banner would never have happened on Jill's watch. I think we are beginning to appreciate Adrian's need for a pushy, discriminating friend, instead of the nonjudgmental pablum Mary Worth is dispensing. A few derisive "ha! ha! ha!s" from Jill, and maybe Adrian would have found a place with a bigger stage.

Oh...my...head.
JILL BLACK WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH DREW COREY!

Another vote for a Drew / Jill story line! With a little luck, we could have another rehearsal dinner and wedding later this year.

plus...Jill's bodacious drinking problem must be addressed and "fixed" by Mary first! The Worthiverse has rules.

And there's Dr. Jeff, again, without Citizen Cane. Perhaps he's stuck in that pose and Adrian is gamely bobbing around him, as if dancing.

To save stress on Jeff's knees, Adrian is dancing with a cardboard cutout.

Drew must be exhausted, traveling with that tremendously swollen jaw.

I'm having a hard time believing that it was 'hard' to leave Vietnam.
If Jill marries Drew Corey, she'll be the second most famous Jill Corey:

Oh man, this story is oddly deep for the shallow end of the gene pool.
Can't... turn....away.
