Mary Worth 1,017

Clearly, these Peace Village reports are going to figure prominently in the story development over the coming weeks. Otherwise, why would they be mentioned so specifically two days in a row? I look forward to reading them.

Liza's gold bracelet appears in panel 2, giving her special powers of persuasion. Drew can never say "no" now. Wait, he couldn't before, either.

Liza's neckline also plunges dramatically in panel 2. Guess Giella was too busy poring over those Peace Village reports to pay attention to continuity issues.

The big question is: will the third time be the charm? If he mentions Peace Village reports tomorrow, does that mean he'll actually refuse Liz's plan?

Poor Drew; completely blindsided by the crazy. Didn't see that coming!

That's what you get for going out with girls, Drew.

I noticed the bracelet too, but not the neckline. Once I stared at that, I also saw that Liza acquired a shoulder bag in panel 2. Not only is the storyline fascinating, but spotting the differences is equally as much fun! It's like a buy one, get one deal. What a treat in these economically depressed times. Thanks Moy/Giella!

Oh, and the hands in panel 1 today - everywhere I look there are hands. What a gripping story!

Another major difference - Drew actually seemed to gain a backbone in panel 1, only to lose it again in panel 2.

What IS that hand in the second panel, rising from the sidewalk? A little too feminine for Dr. Drew - perhaps the ghost of girlfriends past??

You're "looking forward to reading them", Wanders?

There is NOTHING in this comic strip to "look forward to"...absolutely nothing, other than the clever comments posted here.

"Those Peace Village People are far away and you're my Macho Macho Man now, Dr. Drew!"

It's pretty clear that the LiZa with the Jay Leno chin in panel one and the LiZa with the bracelet in panel two were drawn by two different people. Giella probably fell asleep from boredom, crayons in hand, after he drew the first panel. And then a student from Santa Royale Middle School came in and drew the second panel.

A girl can show callous disregard for Mountivew patients and apathy toward the field of medicine, communicate inappropriately in the early stages of a relationship... through obsessive use of a texting machine. She can cut her hair off, devour life with reckless abandon and in all other ways imitate lieutenant "Maverick" from Top Gun, but anyone, ANYone could have told LiZa not to mess with Peace Village.

That girl has more separation anxiety issues than my dog.

Let me know when he clicks his heels together and starts chanting,
"There's no place like Peace Village, there's no place like Peace Village."

Yeah LiZa , don't come between
a boy , his dad and the village people.

My veriwordification was almost frock ,
what a drag.

I do believe LiZa has a low-back (high front neckline) dress and the ability to swive her head completely around.

I began to suspect something yesterday when her head was at that strange angle. But today, that would explain the sudden difference in neckline as well as the appearance of the bracelet and purse strap, both of which had been hidden behine Drew in the first panel.

This peculiarity only adds slightly to her creepiness.

Hurry LiZa, you're losing him! Pull out your checkbook... NOW!!!

I have a question. Does anyone from the Peace Village even realize that Drew is missing? Seems all he has done for them is pore over reports.

It looks like Dr. Drew is showing off some of his backbone....shall it continue, or will he lose his spleen and become Liza's doctor puppet?

Again, where is MARY??? Mary Worth, do your magic!

Look, Doc, time to grow a pair and tell LiZa to take a hike. If she's this bossy and cling-y on your second date, imagine what she'll be like in six months. Is that the theme from "Psycho," I hear playing??

Punky, if Drew mentions "Peace Village" three times in a row like that, it works like Beetlejuice: he's automatically transferred back to Vietnam and away from Liza, which is what he seems to be hoping for right about now.

Punky said...

Robert, thanks for the explanation. From your lips to Karen Moy's ear... I'm still chuckling over Karen with a K's line from Tuesday about "look at the time! I'm late for Vietnam!"

My verification word is nedies - add an E and you've got what LiZa has a bad case of.

man i know this liza is nuts but who wants to hang out with dr jeff and his orange suit and talk peace village all weekend is that possable ?

It looks like Drew is going all "talk to the hand" on LiZa in the first panel. But then his courage just... fizzles? What a wimp! Looks like it's up to Jeff to make any sense of those reports now by himself.

I hope Dr. Drew is reaching for his gun...

Boondock Lake, huh? Why do I have a feeling of foreboding? I'm picturing them stopping to ask some Gabby Hayes looking guy for directions, and him gasping; ''Boondock Lake? No one 'round these here parts goes there, ever since... Never you mind, just stay away!'' Then, their car breaks down halfway there, and the two of them find an inbred hillbilly family of cannibals in a primitive cabin in the woods.
