"Bobby B. was amazing! How I used to shiver inside when he walked around the streets of New York with his deflated basketball. Until one night, he broke into our home because Dad had never installed bars on the windows of our first floor New York apartment. But other than being a criminal mastermind, he was dreamy."
Something about Bobby Black reminds me of Bobby Brown...

Amazing guy? Love??!?
My slappin' hand is itching!!1!
They do look like they're about to have a slap-fest! Or is that the cruel hand of fate, about to come down on Gina's head?
At least we know the ponytail isn't genetic, there's hope for any of Gina's future offspring.
Gina was certainly the style maven back then. Today she wears a lovely dress from the Patty Duke collection,
And I take it that Gina's family was poor-but-virtuous because the lived in a poor, run-down area of Somewheresville.
You can tell it is poor and run-down by the peeling of the outside wall of the building. That's Moy and Giella's "shorthand" for poor-but-virtuous people. If it was an inside shot, the walls would be cracked, the wallpaper coming off the walls, and the pictures hung at shaky angles.
Phoebes, I was about to comment on Giella's representation of Urban blight also. I like how he keeps it simple...of course crackheads are difficult to draw so the stoop has been left empty.
And there we have Gina & Bobby Black giving each other the old "Sieg Heil" as he brings home a large melon.
Moy's New York, never sleeps, but it is yawn inducing.
I noticed the peeling wall, phoebe. Normally, we only get interiors of the dwellings in these flashbacks. I was surprised that Gina's apartment (room?) lacked any of those telltale signs of the poor-but-virtuous lifestyle...not a single patch on the curtains, even...but sure enough, there's the peeling stucco. Phew, I'm glad we're in familiar territory.
Bobby Black certainly looks amazing!
"I knew he was the one for me because he went around making big pointless hand gestures, just like my family!"
And Bobby Black was happy. He didn't know any other way to be.
Gina's marvelous lifelong hairstyle is worthy of further analysis. The perfectly blunt-ended ponytail seems magically perched on top of a completely different haircut, a short, layered bob. Cool.
Never mind all that! Bobby Black? ... Could he be related to Jill Black? Oh please, oh please, oh please! Anything to bring her back!
Look! Someone left a note by the trash can.
@ Maude Findlay -- good catch; I almost missed that connection!! I'm giddy about the prospect that Jill and Bobby MIGHT be related! It seems too close to the other storyline to use the last name "Black" again so soon. Please, please, please let them be related...
The return of Jill Black would make everything better! Even this story that we know is going to end up boring.
Here's a theory- Gina assumed that Bobby was killed on 9/11, but actually he had joined the Peace Corps and was in Ethiopia, on that fateful day. Mary will respond to Gina's story with ''Bobby Black? I know someone with that last name! (Bubble thought pic of Jill Black will appear) I wonder if they could be related?''
Since everyone with the same last name is related in the Worthyverse, Jill will turn out to be Bobby's cousin. She informs Gina that Bobby is alive & well, serving the Corps in Vietnam, in a place called Peace Village. It all ties in!
My husband's first comment this morning on reading Mary Worth:
"So, Gina and Bobby are members of the Hitler Youth."
How "amazing" can a 10 year old boy be?
Robert....end up boring?
Gina was as in love with the Beav as any 8 year-old girl can be.
I am so excited about the new story line. It's the only wan I knwo how to be.
So many observations, so little time! lol @ Seig heil. I said the same thing out loud when I saw the amazing Bobby Black "waving" at Our Gina.
Maybe Bobby and Jill were brother and sister and Jill poo-pooed the idea of Bobby and Our Gina getting together. She probably pointed and laughed at her, just as she did to Adrian in the wedding dressed. The pieces are starting to fall into play.
No foolin, my word was "bartab" which is going to be in the hundreds by the end of the month if this storyline turns rancid.
Of Course Fate would reveal Bobby as Gina's brother.
i know bobby black was amazing taking ginas word but whos picture was that on the wall in panal one thats what amazed me
Ahhh, Bobby Black, I see in panel one that he made a little extra money by painting Gina's apartment...black!
I think they were trying to high five but missed.
I think I know what happened. Bobby and Gina's family were in a barbershop quartet, Bobby Black and the Bluehairs. They were amazing, they stood out on the stoop harmonizing all kinds of great songs like "Too Stupid to be Sad" and "Shaving on the Fire Escape". Then Bobby got drafted and Gina became a Hare Krishna. Gina woke up in the dumpster behind Diner six weeks ago and here we are.
I think Jill will turn out to be Bobby's ex-wife or widow. She stole Bobby from Gina because her Nazi salute was crisper and more militant.
They married young, and he left her for another woman. Or died in VietNam long after the war. Or he turned into Ted Confey.
Her dreams deflated like Bobby's basketball, Jill became a psycho. She and Gina will meet up and have a Krystle/Alexis Dynasty-style catfight in Swimming Pool (snack bar special: salmon squares). Wearing evening gowns with huge shoulder pads.

I just have to say that after reading Toots and Beagle Vet - the last two postings - they both have a better sense of plot and character-formation than Ms Moy.
Maybe the inmates at "Mary Worth and Me" can rise up, overthrow Moy and Giella, and seize Mary Worth and the Worthiverse!
I don't know if anybody's an artist, but there are some good writers here!
Beagle Vet, I almost died @ the Dynasty reference. Jill and her purple boats will slink into the room and in an English accent, she'll tell Gina that there was only one woman in Blake...er, Bobby's life, and Jill was woman enough! Gina throws her order pad at Jill. It hits her in the head and distracts her long enough for the catfight to ensue!!! I think Aaron Spelling could capitalize on this...if only he were alive.
And my word is "dener," which is like a diner, but it's more fun!
I like the overthrow idea! I can't draw worth a darn, unless you want stick figures, in which case Mary would have to meddle about eating disorders, and Hospital would have to open a new ward. Which would be a good thing, because then Hospital Hi-Fi and his relatives could get off the dole.
Although, being an actual vet, I can draw Xrays a heck of a lot better than the Chester X-ray almost three years ago...that storyline is how I got involved in this in the first place! Maybe XRay Department needs an artiste.
If only Aaron Spelling were still with us...but even his humongous mansion has been sold.
