Perhaps she and the cabby will become old friends after she tips him generously.
Today's Full Strip
I thought they were engaged last October. Mary even said that Gina reunited with her boyfriend last year. It's been a secret engagement?? Maybe it has something to do with the Witness Protection Program that Gina is part of.BTW, I feel like this trip is happened way too fast. Slow down, Karen Moy!
Where's your seatbelt Mary?
Quick, look out your window Mary. Gina's floating head, surrounded by fluffs of garbage on the streets of NY.
Well, dayum! I didn't wait 4 days just to see Mary in "Lloyd Neck". I demand Manhattan. You can't skateboard in the 'burbs.
Oh, Wanders, thanks for the comment about the taxi driver! It would have been wonderful to see Mary with a REAL New York taxi driver. She would have run to the next flight back to her gated community!
Chester and I are bummed out. We wanted to stalk Mary at the Times Square Applebee's. But "Lloyd Neck"? Maybe Karen Moy is giving a shout-out to a relative named Lloyd. Here's hoping Beardy McTaxidriver can find "River Way" from the airport. And I'm so hoping for a cameo from Team Manager (aka Hamfist) at the party. The one where they will announce their engagement. Or baby. Or get married. Whatever.
That's about a $100 cab fair. So what's a generous tip?
Talk about your thin grasps at reality: Not only does Lloyd Neck actually exist, but Brangelina once rented there.http://longisland.about.com/od/neighborhoods/ss/lloydneck.htm
Are you Friends with Bobby Black?http://www.facebook.com/Maryworthandme
Thanks for the link to the Lloyd Neck info, @meg. It sure seems like we are headed for a Celebrity Couple - Bobgina? Ginabob? - plot. Mary is way too enthused about the (ooh!) "special announcement." I predict that Mary's earrings will be shocked right off her earlobes when she gets to that party.
Dang! Mary's already in a NYC taxi without so much as a goose being sucked into the plane's engine or some lost luggage? This storyline is speeding right along, but it's only a matter of time before it slows to its usual snail's pace and the boredom sets in.For those who are familiar with the website "Garfield Minus Garfield" (garfieldminusgarfield.net), I've created a few "Mary Worth Minus Mary Worth" panels from this week's strips. Since I can't post graphics here, I made a Facebook page for my alter ego (see above), and uploaded the panels there. By the way, these are only to supplement the fantastic job that Wanders does in his blog.
OK, where is this going? I can't see us spending four months with Mary in NY just for an engagement announcement. Is Gina going to ask her to help plan the wedding? Maybe Gina is pregnant but doesn't want to marry Bobby yet and Mary will have to convince her? Perhaps the Godfather has written her a note expressing his wishes that she be fitted with some cement shoes and she needs Mary to intervene?
PS - Thorpnotized, I can't find your page. Do you have a link by any chance?
@-T 11:49 AM: Just search in Facebook for "Hodces Dirchnic". I'm the only one.Or try this: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003793546228
Mary is hob nobbing with the swanky people! I wonder if Gina works at a DINER on Route 25A.Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and their brood rented an enormous estate in Lloyd Neck in 2009 while Ms. Jolie was working on a movie. They were even seen shopping at a supermarket in nearby Oyster Bay. Their move put the area into the spotlight for many who had never heard of it before. What's the neighborhood like? Tour this lovely North Shore peninsula. You'll need at least a half-day to see the sights, and more if you want to spend time walking through the outdoor attractions. Starting out in the Village of Huntington, you'll drive down Main Street (25A) and then turn into West Neck Road. You'll see pristine, open landscapes as you cross Lloyd Harbor.
Lord,I am becoming obsessed. I just googled Diners near Lloyd Neck! Must.step,away.from.Mary!
Cabby thought balloon: "Ha Ha great! I can drive around in circles and run up the meter on this old bat! All I have to do is get her blathering about her trip."
Gina: "Bobby and I have asked you all here so that we could make a very special announcement."The crowd chuckles happily.Bobby and Gina look meaningfully at each other."We're so happy to tell all our nearest and dearest that we have officially been appointed as dual owners of the Tupperware/Amway franchise of Lloyd Neck. Behind you is a display of our product selection, as well as order forms for you all to fill out. Enjoy!"The crowd falls silent, then sadly turns and picks up the order forms. How do you like your old friend now, Mary?
I'm partial to "Bobina".Maybe Gina is launching a line of ponytail accessories.I agree, the pace of this storyline is astonishing compared to that of Nola (so, is her boyfriend really cheating on her?) Wolvenson.
I hope the taxi cab ride takes several weeks so Mary can ask personal questions about Cabbie's life, and he'll tell her how "love isn't for me," and she'll meddle him into true love with Maid who answers the door to Bobby Black's palatial mansion.
Could the "party" really be a meddling intevention for Mary? That would wipe that smirk off of Mary's face pretty quick.
I hope that cabbie isn't a robber or a serial killer or something! I mean, no good EVER comes from mustachioed men in Mary Worth!! (The added chinbeard may just be a ruse...And look at the neck of his undershirt...what if it's a "wifebeater" style?
Today in "Driving Miss Mary," Beardy McHacky moves over to the right to make room for Bubble Bath Gina in the driver's seat. And happily Joe Giella doesn't need to research what other towns might look like, as he and Moy decide to just create an East Coast version of Santa Royale. "Lazy is the only way we knew how to be."Every time that cloud picture of Gina appears, I have a Mystery Science Theater reaction, and say GAAAAHHHH out loud.
"Gina, Take the Wheel"Why is Gina's image appearing in the front seat next to the cabdriver instead of the back seat with Mary? Does he know her too?Won't Mary feel foolish if it ISN'T an engagement party?
