Dawn isn't looking too well. It may be GoT overexposure, depression,or the color combinations of their living room decor. Orange couch, red-orange throw pillows, green walls Wilbur's shirt and her own purple pajama jeans ensemble are enough to make anyone curl up in a fetal knot with nausea.
I'm fairly new to the Worthiverse - apparently Dawn is a college student? In a traditional college that has summer vacations? Most online universities don't give summers off. So if she's attending a traditional college surely there are places and clubs she could join to meet lots of guys, yet she doesn't seem to meet any at the college. Why is that?
@Anonymous at 9:25 AM, although it strains credulity, Dawn indeed is a college student at the very institution that employs Professor Chinbeard. (Does anyone remember the name of the college? I sure don't.) I had the same reaction you did, Anonymous. Don't college students get jobs or internships? Get a life, Dawn! Maybe Diner is hiring waitresses.
Anon@9.25a - yes, Miss Dawn is a college student, but since she lives at home, seemingly 24/7 except for brief forays to the supermarket, she doesn't meet many guys. Other than the Teddy Bear.
I'm curious where she met "Dave"? Also, am I the only person in the Universe who hasn't watched "Game of Thrones"? Please tell me I'm not...
@phoebes in Santa Fe: I watched the very first episode, and decided it wasn't for me (and I am a big SF/Fantasy fan of long duration). So, don't feel bad. If you want to know more, there are scads on online communities devoted to discussing Game of Thrones, both the books and the miniseries--some of which even show the sense of humor we Worthiversians prize.
I haven't watched the TV series, but I am very slowly making my way through the books. Since I am the World's Oldest Grad Student(TM), I have very little time for outside reading. Sometimes I put the books down for so long that I forget who the characters are, or what they're doing. I guess you could say I'm reading GoT at a MW pace ... instead of pool parties, I just keep an eye out for betrayal and violence.
Game of Thrones involves multiple storylines, nuanced characters and amazing acting. There is No Way that Dawn is following that series. Real Housewives of Santa Royale is Dawn's taste - or Charterstone Shore or So You Think You Can Meddle? (Mary always wins that one!)
@phoebes in Santa Fe: I had never even heard of "Game of Thrones", which proves I am not very "with it" anymore. I'm with fauxprof though; I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy, but after watching the link to the preview (thanks, Wanders), I doubt I would watch it. Speaking of Toby, where is she these days? She didn't even get a recap of Mary's trip to NYC!
@Anonymous: the sandwiches are out of view in today's panels as Wilbur has them stashed in his utility belt as he addressing the latest technology induced crisis.
Suffice to say, one will be ready to emerge in swift order should the situation escalate.

*gasp!* Everyone knows Game of Thrones isn't available on DVD! Has Dawn's broken heart led her down the dark path of ILLEGAL INTERNET DOWNLOADING?
I am glad that we're not expected to believe that Wilbur actually has HBO. That would be silly.
I just can't believe that Dawn's given up on kite flying already!

Unfortunately, I think WE are about to spend OUR summer vacation this way...

Phoebes, I've never seen a moment of "Game of Thrones" either, so you're not alone.

Also, why is there no sandwich visible in today's strip? I can't even make out any crumbs on Wilbur's shirt. Unacceptable!

If Dawn starts to a-readin' them books, she ain't never gonna leave the house 'til winter!
And, as we all know...
winter is coming.
Doesn't the Game of Thrones producers have some legal recourse against Moy? Linking their show to Dawn can't be good.

Dawn is uhhhhh.... "special". Stalking, needy, mentally ill and "special". She should be institutionalized. Toss her out Wilbur!!!!!
Looks like Dawn and Dr. Jeff have a lot in common - being dumped and watching a lot of TV. Maybe Mary could hook them up together.

I think Dawn is much more likely to be a fan of "Say Yes To The Dress"
@Peggy Olson, your TV show ideas are boffo! Can Toby Cameron be one of the "Real Housewives of Santa Royale"?!
fauxprof- Worthiversians sounds like it's right out of GoT!, though I doubt there would be much wrangling for control of our little realm.

KitKat, the name of Santa Royale's institute of higher education is, of course, "College". Bluto Blutarski's alma mater.
I watched the first couple episodes of Game of Thrones. It jumped the shark pretty early IMHO.

I've never even HEARD of Game of Thrones, but then I'm older than dirt.
Yesterday I joked about MW and GoT in my Facebook status (nerd alert!)
A friend commented, "When you play the game of meddling, you win or Mary tells you at length why you lost."

(that should read "addresses" apparently I need a sandwich to smooth my way through my technology based crisis too.....)
