Mary Worth 1,600

This is funny because old people are hard of hearing. They also borrow each others' clothes.

LOL! Elinor was jealous of that jaunty little tie!

Also, I wonder how John Dill is doing in New York City... Just kidding! He didn't last a week!

My stars, Marie is so hostile toward Elinor. I think "Marie" is actually Mary Worth in disguise (Tony Bennett mask [thanks, Maude Findlay!] and bad wig). Mary uses her alternate ego, Marie, to express all the hostility she usually tries to repress. Maintaining the "Gentle Mother Mary" persona became too much for her, thus the creation of "Marie."

The handle of Elinor's cane comes up to chest level. Must be hard to walk with that thing. However, it might be useful to shake at that Jezebel, Beth.

Great call on the purple ensemble, Wanders!

Proves the future is real. Just remember, these old people, and some who read this column, are 1) glad the picture is enlarged, and 2) know Beth too, as well as all who read this, will some day be in the same age group as Elinor.

Hug a person over 70 today.

What a catch, Wanders! (although I worry about how much room MW takes up in your brain.)

@KitKat--I love your theory. Too bad it is too erudite for KM.

Marie is so mean to Elinor. The halted speech, the hollering, the baiting. Since she still has her hair rollers in, you can tell she doesn't have much going on during the day, so she lives for creating discord--like Gladys Kravitz from the "Bewitched" series.

JG needs to learn to draw The Elderly, however; all he does is make them look dirty/sooty.

Maybe there is a shop at Charterstone similar to shops around universities where they have all the logos and school names on clothing. On the back of Elinor's and Mary's purple shirt is Charterstone in big pink letters in the shape of an arch.

Elinor and Mary belong to the same scout troop.

Wonder how long "Marie Baritone" (and her son Tony Baritone and his friends Silvio and Big Wussy) have lived in Santa Royale? Must be in the same witness protection program as Gina's dad.

Is Skelinor about to punch Marie?!

I wonder where Marie got those hair rollers that exactly match the color of her hair. Maybe they're custom made.

@Nance at 9:01 AM, I agree re JG, especially since he is in that demographic himself (84, only 19 years younger than Mary herself).

My newspaper is going to four day delivery. Do you suppose I'll be able to keep up?

When did the Gorgon move it to Charterstone?

When did the Gorgon move in to Charterstone?

...knew I'd get it right eventually...

...just like a MW "plot"

By far my favorite panel of the year.

Not only do the senior women borrow each other's clothes, but the men at Charterstone borrow each other's chest hair.

I wonder if tomorrow's strip will have Elinor holding up a big horn to her ear, with a speech bubble saying; ''Eh? Come again?''

I don't know if the reference to Skelinor today was the first, but it cracked me up!
