Mary Worth FLASHBACK!

Travel back with me now to 2008. Jeff Cory, M.D., and Mary Worth have just gotten back together after a very tedious break up. To make amends, Jeff takes Mary to a concert of her choice... and what does she choose?

That's right, Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova, who had just been featured in the film "Once." Now that film has become a Broadway play, and so, now, I'm pleased to present my daughter and a friend performing Mary Worth's favorite song from the musical "Once."

Talk about art imitating life!

Wanders, how proud you must be of Maggie, a lovely young woman with a voice to match.

And now on to Mary Worth...Golly, I'd forgotten all about Dr. Jeff taking Mary to that Up with People performance. Wanders, your memory is fantastic!

Today's strip: It's a good thing that Mary told Elinor those are FLOWERS. Otherwise, Elinor might have thought it was lunch.

Wardrobe matters: Elinor's gown has gone from jewel neckline to turtleneck between panels - ? Mary is wearing a black blazer, which indicates she has joined Mountview Hospital's mortuary service.

Cliche alert for the next three days when Mary answers Elinor's question!

Poor Elinor. Reduced to reading the hospital's services booklet. Mary could have brought her some proper reading material. Where is her book cart?

Nice! The Wanders Kid is a Wunderkind.

As to Thursday's strip--Are you ready for some MEDDLING? And the flower arrangement. Looks like those paper flowers we used to make when I was in Brownies back in the 50s. It involved pastel Kleenex and a bobby pin, I think. I was terrible at it.

@fauxprof at 9:29 AM, people used to tape those tissue flowers on cars for weddings, remember? The flowers turned into a gooey mess if it rained, and the color ran onto the fenders. Maybe TomBeth will put flowers like that on Tom's car for their nuptials.

WV is "inkeesne bows" - what a coincidence.

Hot damn, way to go (your) kid!

Talk about a palate cleanser after all the drek that Moy and Elinor have given us!

Mary: Sure, ask me a question.

Elinor: Why are you in drag?
What's with that wonky eye of yours?
Does this hospital johnny make me look fat?

Aren't "boyfriend jackets" women's apparel that only resemble a man's jacket? Mary is wearing the same black dinner jacket that Jeff wore to the concert.

Thanks you, Wanders, for the clip of Maggie's performance. So much talent in the Anderson family!

Today's panel: what a waste of time. They couldn't at least have the newly youthful Elinor pose her question as the cliff hanger? No. Instead we have to be instructed that Mary brought FLOWERS. (Why do people in the Worthiverse feel compelled to randomly shout nouns in their sentences?!?)

So what's Elinor going to ask? "Mary, should I check myself into a home for the emotionally dependent and obnoxious?"

I love the meddle trnsmitter/plant that Mary arrives with on Thursday.

Nice clip Wanders--great talent. For their next performance might I recommend "Never did no Wanderin' " from the Mighty Wind soundtrack.

Useless trivia for the Cleveland based MW&M folks: the manager of Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova is a fellow Clevelander, transplanted in Chicago. I used to work with him at Marc's in the 1980s.

@Meg 10:53: you forgot:

"Have you ever been in a cockpit?"
"Have you ever seen a grown man naked?"
"Do you like movies about gladiators?"
"Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

Wanders - She has a beautiful voice! How strange it must have been to see your daughter reenact a panel from Mary Worth.
