Mary Worth 1,716

I'm not hip to the lingo old ladies use so I don't know what a "celeb" is, but I'm pretty sure they use the front entrance, rather than the loading dock. Either that, or this event is so big that the Waldorf has taken down its front doors to improve traffic flow.

Are we about to be treated to Uncle Joe's depictions of famous people? The only way that's going to work is if the "celebs" are Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, and Diana Prince.

(Should we be worried about the person wearing the burkah who appears to be leaving the Waldorf?)

Good heavens! Either Mary and DOSC have arrived at the Saudi version of the Waldorf or it's The Cantina of Star Wars fame!

I'm frightened on any count unless DOSC is packing some defense in that huge discounted bag.

All those "celebs" look sinister and evildoing to me, unless the movies I've watched my whole life are wrong.

Glad to see DOS and Mary prepping for their Mount Rushmore pose.

Gee, the Waldorf Newsletter on the hotel's website today says nothing about the big Promise Haven Award Ceremony, an indication that it is VERY EXCLUSIVE. Perhaps the famous indoor soccer couple BobGina will be among the celebs in attendance.

KitKat: I'm sure BobGina will be in attendance!

These two panels make my head spin. Who runs the PR/Outreach for this organization? Why wouldn't they announce that a real Celeb was attending the event?

How can DOSC not know who's coming to her own dinner?

And I LOVE Mary's smug look in Panel Two. I suspect that Mary herself is the surprise Celeb Speaker! (Of course, that explains why no one promoted the event.)

A dinky little non profit gets to have a banquest at the Walforf? There goes their budget for the next few years.

Ooh, I can't wait who the "celeb" is...Pia Zadora, Charo, Carrot Top?

@Anonymous: I'm hearing the backstage call now for the Professor to be ready in his Jabba regalia for the Ccantina scene...

And Celebs too! Joy! Maybe we'll see Barry Manilow or Tom Jones!

Isn't that the entrance where they get the Zamboni inside?

As someone pointed out in a post in Comics Kingdom, the phrase "in all their glory" usually means they are completely naked. This could turn out to be a very interesting evening after all...

If there were any justice in this world, the celebrity on hand would be Chin Napkin.

The night will end in an awkward moment, when DOSC's acceptance speech gets interrupted by Kanye West rushing the stage, blurting out; ''Yo Shelly, I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish, but Mary Worth is the best meddler of ALL TIME!''

Why is the receiving end of a firing squad lined up at the front entrance?!

Just what is going on here? Are these people coming or going? Are they people? I think both anonymous and anonymous are right - I think I do see Darth Vader, and a storm-trooper...wait, are they blindfolded?! Are Mary and DOSC about to face the firing squad, too? I feel so confused. Meanwhile, Mary demonstrates her fine pincer grasp on some undefinable part of the cab...

Another laugh-out-loud series of comments. Thanks all.

Celebs? Will Zazu Pitts or Aldophe Monjou will be there?

Shelly is talking with her mouth shut. Mary is listening with her mouth open. It's enough to confound the senses.

oh look, it's King Fahd! And Richard Simmons! Oh! and there's Hillbilly Ann in her new pantsuit! This is going to be quite a night.
