Mary Worth 1875

Having spent more time than I like in hospitals this year, for procedures that were both easy-peasy and less so, I'd have to say the oddest thing about Mountview Hospital is how little business they seem to do. Seriously, where are the cars? I know they have tons of doctors there, but where is everyone parking?

Today's Full Strip

So...Olive's TorsoCyst was a pointless plot device just to get her in the pool?

Talk about sound and fury signifying nothing! KM is no Shakespeare, that's for sure. Moving along now, with nothing else to see here.

I'm very confused. Did they remove Olive's internal cyst without surgery? Surely, that wouldn't have been an outpatient procedure. Shouldn't we have days of anxiety as Olive is admitted, given an IV and wheeled down to the operating room while her parents wait anxiously (for days) with Mary?

Where's the scene with the doctor running out of surgery, declaring success (despite that angel who kept circling the ceiling)?

And then, Ed asks Olive if everything went OK. Didn't he talk to her doctor? Didn't the nurse give a hundred pages of post-op instructions? Doesn't ED THE DOCTOR know how his daughter is doing?

Last question: Why is today's strip bothering me so much?

Oh, I do hope the so-called gift Olive gets is that she is being dumped permanently into the custody of her 'kindred spirit', Mary while her parents leave for NYC.

Or, maybe they've signed her up for swimming lessons?

No...I've got it! She is treated to a front row seat in the ceremonial revoking of Dr. DrugAddict's medical license!

Not only did we miss the "easy peasy" procedure completely, we're facing AN ENTIRE WEEK of nothing. I bet the "reward" is Olive spending the rest of the week, or maybe her life, baking and keeping on keeping on with Mary, as they continue to put one foot in front of the other. Bleah!

Peggy, Peggy, Peggy. Did you not read the narration box? It was a MINOR medical procedure. Furthermore, even Olive acknowledges it was easy-peasy.

There are no cars in the Mountview parking lot for two reasons. 1) Most of the doctors have had their drivers licences revoked (drunk driving, drugs, etc.) and 2) Most of the staff at Mountview is under the age of 14.

The surgery may have been easy-peasy, but have they gotten the pathology back on the cyst yet? Or does Ed deem that kind of diagnostic followup nonessential?

Here's hoping we never have to hear the term "easy-peasy" again.

Good luck getting up and down those stairs at the hospital entrance, non-healthy people.

I think Olive just had a pimple on her belly. But cyst removal sounds so much better than pimple popping....which wouldn't even be a medical procedure, easy-peasy or otherwise.

Now, let's watch the Taylor family skip off into the sunset and disappear from the Worthiverse forever.

Mountainview Hospital...you go in, but you don't come out. Then they tow your car.

What? No secret message today?

Totally sloppy loose end if Dr. Kapuht doesn't surface with at least his license revoked. . . I will sincerely doubt Mary's prediction of Olive as a future "force of nature" if Kapuht doesn't end up exposed. . .

Will Olive receive a basket of Flower Fairies as a reward? (Flower Fairies, brimming with life and verve in the manner of advertisements for Sea Monkeys in the comic books of the '70s.)

I work in marketing for a hospital. Now, I feel like sprinkling all of the marketing materials I write with the phrase "easy-peasy."
