Mary Worth 1945

Wait. What? You don't KNOW if you want to raise your grandson? The complexity of Hanna's character has made her completely unpredictable. Somewhere along the line, I got the impression she didn't want to spend time with Gordy, that she felt she'd already done her time as a parent. But apparently she is more layered and nuanced and inconsistent than that.

If Hanna moves to Somerset, Amy will no longer ask her mother to take care of Gordon? Why is that? Is Somerset too far away? What am I missing?

If Hanna wants to hide from Amy and Gordon, or, more likely, the haranguing Mary, she could climb into her giant shoulder bag.

An obvious solution here, Hannah. Move in with Sean now, rather than waiting three years for your own apartment. Sean would be glad to help by becoming Gordon's step-grandfather. (Gordon likes tuna sandwiches, doesn't he?)

Of course Hanna is a complex person! It's not like she's a cartoon character! She's been through several traumatic, life changing experiences just in the short time we've known her! Her revolting daughter calls her "MA!" every time they're together; she's found a single man who's not horrified at the thought of her playing that hellish flute she's always babbling about, and worst of all, Mary has been doing that weird good cop/bad cop thing with her where she simultaneously heads a lynch mob against her and tries to help her. Finally, and I don't relish thinking about this any more than the rest of you, she's slept w/Sean for the first time, something that freaks many women (and men) out. So it isn't surprising that she's having trouble processing all this.

Isn't this where we started, like two years ago? We're locked in a Moy time warp.

Somerset probably has a strict no-children policy. And I mean strict! No overnights, no visits beyond a half-hour, no noise, no cartoons, no action figures. Hanna won't be bothered with Gordy until he graduates from college.

...until he graduates from college or is released from prison, whichever comes first.

Speaking of sons, and prison...what ever happened to Tommy?

Tommy is using the skills he developed in prison to enhance the environment in a commercial endeavor, while improving his interpersonal skills in order to have a more satisfying future.

(He's mopping floors at Jerry's Sandwich Shop and flirting with a waitress and hoping to get lucky.) We'll see him next in about five years, when he'll have worked his way up to assistant manager; he'll also be paying child support and sleeping on his mom's couch.

WEDNESDAY

Great opportunity for Hanna here to put Mary ('I want to observe them interact')in her place. She should accept the dinner invitation but not invite Sean. Imagine how frustrated Mary would be! It makes my heart sing just thinking about it!!

Wednesday
I'm with @I Am Not a Robot at 9:45 AM. Hanna showing up for dinner without Sean would drive Mary nuts. Maybe her head would explode! I'd love to see that. Sadly, instead we are going to be subjected to one of Mary's awkward dinners, with things like kelk souffle and regular water. For dessert, perhaps that Sherwin-Williams Paint cake Mary was whipping up earlier.

Dinner at Mary's! Lamb and asparagus again? Oh, and plain water.
