Oh, Toby, where are you? Where could you possibly be hiding? Hey, Ian, why don't you check with Toby's only friend, Mary, who lives across the hall? That might be a good place to start your search. Maybe she knows something.
Ian can't be all that distraught. He's already replaced the baby blue couch with a more manly beige-ish one. And is he still clutching Toby's note, or working from a script?
"And will you come home? The box of Splak is just about empty!"
I'm beginning to wonder if AstroTurf sport coats are worn by all faculty members at The University of Santa Royale Community College. Is this the faculty uniform?
Can't he hear Toby's phone ringing in the apartment across the hall? We all know Charterstone has paper thin walls, otherwise Mary couldn't eavesdrop on the neighbors so easily.
Maybe the reason he doesn't suspect she's hiding out with Mary is that he's been so consistently egocentric he doesn't really even know Toby has no other friends.
I was going to say that these two morons deserve one another but that would be an unkind characterization of morons.
Ha ha, 76VDubber, I did! As part of my morning routine, I not only read the comic strip but I also reenact Mary Worth postures. It is frequently painful and does on occasion require my husband to untangle my body parts. I also spill A LOT of food with the classic MW Silverware Pincer Grip(TM).
Won't You Come Home Dear Toby Won't You Come Home I'm Home The Whole Night Long I'll Do The Cookin' Honey I'll Pay The Rent I Know That I've Done You Wrong
Yes I Know That I'm Too Blame Ain't That A Shame Dear Toby won't You Please Come Home
Apparently Toby can't bear to turn off or silence her phone. So Mary has to listen to it ringing off the hook for hours, as she slowly loses her mind. Toby is watching...this slow descent into madness...this she can bear.
"There, there, dear. Let's put this cell phone on vibrate if you don't want to answer it. I have to concentrate here at the computer. I'm answering letters to 'Ask Wendy.' There are some people out there with real problems, you know!"

Maybe Ian is overdue for a reread of Poe's "The Purloined Letter."

Q: After reading today's strip, how many of you, my friends, tried to hold your cell phone as Dr. Cameron is holding his?

This guy is as dense as an anvil.

Say what you will about the green jacket, it looks lovely with that black and white tie.

Why is he calling her using his little black book? Of course since she IS just across the hall, he doesn't need a phone at all.
@chin Napkin Groupie: OMG, the same song was going through my head!!!!!

What on earth is Mary watching on TV in Panel 2? License Plates of the Rich and Famous?
