Wanders, your comment is both spot on and hilarious. Just think, if Dad Beedie had died in a sandwich shop, Tommy would never have set foot in Jerry's.
Considering that Tommy is writhing in pain, it should be tricky for Iris and Mary to maneuver him into Mary's car (even with that hand truck). Wouldn't it be better to call 911? On the plus side, not yet moving the Beedie furniture worked out well.
Or Mary could just break down and share some of her stash of Percocet, which she keeps for those rare occasions when she's unable to avoid Dr. Jeff's regrettable animal urges.
Tommy might have a new, buff bod, but he's not so strong. He's already succumbed to Iris's ministrations and Mary's "advice." Plus, if it's only some lower back pain, shouldn't he just go the doctor's office? It doesn't seem like it's really an emergency. Or maybe it's just me ...
Here we go. Addiction to painkillers leading to heroin. Moy's diving right into the current heroin epidemic. Her take on it will be enlightening, I'm sure...
The dude can't even grunt correctly. It's "Uhm...okay," not "Ugh...okay." Sheesh! I'm totally with Limber Joe and others who have hinted at the coming attraction of painkiller addiction. Now, the trick will be to make the story totally boring!
I've had chronic back pain for many years. I have been to the doctor, chiropractor and orthopedic surgeon for it, but always went with appointments in advance, not all 911 like drama queen Tommy. Tommy's addiction to opiods may lead to him hawking them on campus in a paper bag to UCSR students.
Maybe this will be the opening for the long-anticipated Dawn-Tommy romance. She'll teach him all the yoga that Harlan taught her. There has to have been a reason for that pointless story line. No, wait, this is Mary Worth. No standalone story line is too insignificant or inane.

He's never been afraid of back alleys and shady drug deals, though. No one ever dies that way, right?

Can they stop at a Best Cuts on the way? I've nothing against long hair, just Bad Long Hair.
Off too Mountview we go! Nurses, put down your Cherry Ames' novels and get to work! Hospital Hifi, power on! Crank up that elevator music!
