Mary Worth 2373

Three days of Vicodin is three days too many!

Hate the storyline, love the artwork. The unshaven, sweating, tooth-gnashing Tommy is sheer genius. Add in random gray people for us traditionalists and you are KILLING it, June.

Love the Reefer Madness connection, Wanders! Now if Tommy starts playing the piano, I'm gonna get worried.

@fauxprof at 8:09 a.m., on my monitor the random people are puce, not gray, which adds to the misery. Attagirl, June! The mother and pony-tailed little girl are straight out of 1957, and look at the neck and expression of hopelessness on that man! Those people must be taking something too!

Wanders, can you please animate a few of these strips? This panel's dialog especially needs to be spoken aloud to further appreciate its odd stilted quality.

When will Tommy make us happy and get busted? He was already lucky enough to find a physician complicit in doctor-shopping. Perhaps the pharmacist will be alarmed when confronted by a smelly, boxer shorts-clad gentleman, thrusting forward in a shaking hand a sweat-soaked prescription for a controlled substance, and a Santa Royale policeman who looks like William Bendix will awake from his slumbers and put a stop to this.

Considering Tommy's ex-offender drug history, I find it unbelieveable that he didn't know about Vicodin's addictive qualities. Apparently whatever he did in prison regarding drug education wasn't very effective... Maybe this strip is an indictment of the prison system (and his mom's cluelessness) instead of showing Tommy's personality flaws. Wondering how Mary will shoehorn her way into this plot... Guessing it will be hand-wringing Iris who will show up at Mary's door to fill her own addiction for blech muffins and lukewarm out-of-date advice... I would LOVE to hear Mary actually use drug lingo in any dialogue she might have about this situation...

If I smoke reefers will I be able to play the piano like that? Anyway, don't stress too much about needing the Vicodin, Tommy. It worked great for Dr. House. Well, most of the time.

This whole inane storyline better end with Tommy writing a letter to Ask Wendy for advice on how to keep his cell mate from making him his girlfriend.

Tommy, if you can't bear this feeling, DAWN will comfort you!

I don't see how Mary will advise Tommy, though, since she had no problem with him taking Vicodin to begin with. Maybe she'll say, "That's life!"

On another note, I'm really glad that Tommy is going to "Pharmacy" so that we're not subjected to advertising for pharmacies IRL, as in the past.

Why is the girl with the ponytail and her mom having a script filled at 3:00 in the morning? Only guys like Tommy and purple derelict guy are out at this hour. Was she out of Vicadin too?
