Mary Worth 2391

Uh oh! Tommy just got busted, and his mommy was there to see it. How humiliating. And now she's going to talk about Tommy with Mary Worth. Those two enablers will really have a lot of judging to do.

And in today's strip, the cayenne pepper hits the fan.

Yes, finally! So may new possibilities.

I'm beginning to think the pharmacist is actually Dr Kaphut in disguise. He just got a haircut and a really dark tan. He is still a bad Doctor so Tommy can probably still get his Vicodin by slipping a few twenties across the counter.

Or, maybe Iris can bat her eyes at the pharmacist and ask if there is anything she can do.

Or, the SRPD drug task force comes busting into the pharmacy. They had been tracking Tommy for weeks and we're waiting for a chance to bust him in a bad part of town so that the mostly white community wouldn't be alarmed of a drug problem in the town.

Or, we get to watch Tommy have severe withdrawal symptoms during the 72 hour intervention at Mary's.

Or, a conjugal visit from Dawn in the cooler after they become pen pals.

So many possibilities!

In today's installment ... Iris finally gets a clue!
In today's "throw-away" panels ... Dr. Jeff checks his smartphone outside Pharmacy for updates from the pharmacist on Tommy's naughty behaviour, so that he can quickly text Mary so that she can prepare some useful "advice." (Yeah, right!)
Tommy, darling, DAWN will help you through it all in your time of need! A great big, wet smooch from Dawn is waiting for you!

Iris' next line is "Go to your room, young man!" Spoken in the sternest tone possible. Yes, Iris knows good parenting, straight out of a Coronet instructional film from the 1950s. Maybe she ought to update to an afterschool special from the 70s?

..and Mary is in aisle six, wondering if the store brand of Metamucil is as good as the real thing.

The good news is that Tommy will not be incarcerated for buying the extra meds. It's not like he's selling drugs out of brown paper lunch bags on the UCSR campus, like he did before he went to prison.

It's sure a good thing Mary advised Iris to be there for Tommy. Who else could have snapped out "Tommy!" and glared at him so effectively? Yes, there are times when a boy needs his mother. If Iris had been there to glare at him when he was 10 and stealing cookies from other kids' lunches, he might not have started off on this life of crime.

Is that Dr. Julius Hibbert behind the counter? E-Hee-Hee-Hee....

Diagnosis, bad parenting.

"THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!"--Really, Tommy? You didn't see this coming? Gimme a break! I'm starting to think that DAWN is too good for you! (That really says something, doesn't it?)

I rate today's strip: 3 GROANS!
