Mary Worth 2421

Of course, if he is back, Iris probably got there first and is telling him all about how she mothered Tommy to recovery from his opiate addiction. If Mary hurries, we'll get to hear all about it.

YUM! Splak casserole. Steamy and enticingly aromatic.

The look in Mary's eyes in the featured panel is eerily remenescent of Stepford Wives. Yikes!

She isn't even sure he's home, yet she's headed down the hall with a steaming hot glutinous mass. Isn't that a little presumptuous? Hey, Mary, ever thought of calling first? Or even texting?

If you were making a casserole (or whatever) for someone, would you immediately march it down the hall to them the minute you took it out of the oven?

I want to see Mary kick at Wilbur's door repeatedly - hard to knock with oven mitts on.

So does Wilbur go completely off the grid when he is working on survival stories? He doesn't email, text, or call Mary while he is gone or even when he returns?

Maybe it's just me, but ever since people started talking about feeling unsettled by Mary's Portrait of Dorian Gray youthful look, Mary is starting to look more her age--crow's feet, a slight, nearly imperceptible slump in her posture, and those oven mitts and cooked food make her look more her age of almost 100. She's still hip enough not to wear an apron, though...

"Time to pay Mr. Weston a VISIT. How menacing! Is Mary ticked off that Wilbur will be taking back "Ask Wendy," or that he hasn't been in contact, or both? That cloud of steam emanating from the pan is ominous - looks like a ghostly albino flamingo. Could it be a sign of Mary's secret ingredient for Mr. Weston - Ex-Lax? Strychnine? (This is way better than the Tweedlebeedies - hurrah!)

Yes, KitKat, the cloud of steam does, indeed, look ominous. My first thought was "Kobra!". Second thought was "Alien!"

Oops. Better yet, "Cobra!"

That smell is going to linger in the hallway for weeks! Charterstone residents will be puzzling over its source.

"What's that smell? Has Mr. Allora hosed out the garbage chute lately? Maybe we should check on Mrs. Choate in 2D. I haven't seen her in at least a week, and well...you never know. Is somebody keeping monkeys? I can't place that odor but it reminds me of the subway platform in Mumbai!"

It's always so awkward when you realize there's a piece of toilet paper steaming from your casserole.

I think Mary needs to be meddled. How is she going to knock on the door? Will she hold the steaming hot pan of mystery slush in one hand and knock with the other? Recipe for disaster! Will she pull off one of the oven mitts with her teeth? Will she start calling out "Wilbur! Wilbur!" through the closed door? What if he's not home? What if he's still in Japan? ... Well, maybe Dawn will be home, and she and Mary can dish about Tommy over a pile of light brown slop! This story is WAY more interesting than the last one already! Yay!

I think the white plume is the mayonnaise in the casserole trying to escape. Mary knows that Wilber likes a lot of mayonnaise on everything.

Dare I say that today's art seems to have been re-Giellaized?
