Mary Worth 2640

Katie's Thought Bubble: I love him, but can I trust him again? That look in his eyes tells me that he wants to quit smoking and shipboard entertainers for me, but he lacks the confidence in himself that he needs to succeed. Is there anything I can do to help him? Is there some change I need to make to help him overcome the powerful addictions he has to tobacco and show tunes?

Derek's Thought Bubble: I'd like to eat now, but I can't be the first to break eye contact.

================

No change today in our verb and adjective tally, but I missed a few days so I want to post an update. "Good" took the lead on Thursday:

Good: 20
Enjoy: 19
Love: 17
Nice: 7

Mary should take a victory lap - swimming around the ship.

Meanwhile, the still-sodden Esme plans her comeback act: A Salute to the Little Mermaid.

So that's it? End of story? No Esme epilogue? The whole hanging-from-the-ship's-rail incident never happened?

There is so much opportunity to explore grand lessons of karma and payback and forgiveness and sadder but wiserness. And all we get is the dreamy glow of post-make-up canoodling?

Sigh, this is like showing up for the ship's breakfast buffet and all you get is toast.

Toast?! You got toast? All they have is 2 teacups!

Let's not give up yet, friends. There's still time left for Toby to discover the onboard casino and develop a gambling addiction that she takes back to Charterstone with her. She'll start making clandestine weekend jaunts to Vegas, under the guise of taking her clown paintings and little grey figurines to craft shows. That'll be something for Mary to get her teeth into!

Compared to all her interventions at Pax Wellness Resort, Mary really hasn't done much on this trip. For example, Entertainer Esme seems more suited to being fired than the poor woman at Pax whose job Mary had to step in to save.
