Even alone with her thoughts, Mary has suppressed the trauma of her recent sexual assault and sublimated with a muffin fixation. Does she feel responsible for Ted's behavior? Does she blame herself? Wake up, Mary! Those aren't muffins! Those are blueberry tears.

We now have a comic strip about nothing, without the wit and pungency of Seinfeld. Unless from now on, it’s just about muffins. Nothing but muffins. No cookies, or banana bread, or key lime pie. Just muffins, muffins, muffins, on into eternity.
I miss Iris.
Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"Methinks She Doth Protest (And Bake) Too Much".
No regrets.
Going big...
Food thought
...Peace!
Seems to me that Maren Koy has barged obliviously into territory of which she knows nothing and where she distinctly has No Business (or even sympathy). She seems to be a cheap opportunist at worst and a simpleton at best. Having the assaulted character repeat that she is At Peace isn't really making it all Okay. Wow. Tone Deaf.
@fauxprof--Fie! Be careful what you wish for.
While others consume Mary's muffins, Mary is consumed by them.
Jeez, Moy really mailed it in for this week. It's like a week-long Sunday strip.
Oh well, we'll always have Ted Miller's muffin hat.

You make a good point, fauxprof. Even Iris is more interesting than an endless barrage of muffins.
I think K. Moy deserves some credit for originality. Mary may be the first entity ever, fictional or otherwise, to have reflected on not going big with muffins. Is it possible that K. is trying, hamfistedly, to make a serious point about denial?
Listen to me Mary. Look at me, not out the window or into the distance. Look at me. There's nothing special about your muffins. There's no market for your muffins. Ted, remember him, was lying to you. All he wanted was your warm embrace. There was never any possibility of a muffin empire. So get over your muffins and tell people the truth about Ted or never meddle again.
Great comments, today everyone...It bugs me no end that Mary's internal reflections (on International Women's Day, no less) revolve around "food for thought"...Hmmm...So, if you just think about food (instead of the assault and injustice you just experienced), you will be at peace?! Not bloody likely...
Yes, great comments from everyone!
Baren Koy has Mary mark International Women’s Day by refusing to deal with Ted’s attempted assault and compensating with endless muffins - good grief. By Sunday her apartment will be overflowing with muffins. They’ll be stacked to the ceiling and pushing against the door. Muffin intervention, anyone?
There’s no way one can hold a hot muffin pan the way Mary’s doing it today.
Did anyone consider that Mary's muffin baking may be a way for her to deal with what just happened? Blocking it out, making muffins is her cry for help!
Nope.
Thanks Maren Koy for making a mockery of International Women’s Day by reminding us that Mary’s “at peace” with her decision not to out Ted Miller as a molester. You have a chance to bring light on a serious subject, but you keep have Mary insisting “no harm, no foul.” You really are out of touch reality. Try to get out more and find out how the world really works.
Keep baking those muffins, Mary. The St. Anne’s bake sale must be going on for six months for the amount she’s been baking for the last few weeks.
@fauxprof: Hahahahaha! I feel your pain, especially since this plot has driven you to wishing for a return of the Tweedlebeedies! I know how much you dislike them.
Instead of muffins, can we have some ghost pie, some pinkcake, some chicken salad appetizers, and some vegetable terrine, please? And my wish is for a "plot" involving Toby Cameron. She's my favourite!
And Mary ... why are you covering for Ted Miller the @#$%!%????? WAKE UP! Why don't you at least tell Toby about that creep?
