Mary Worth 2885

AWESOME! Wilbur is headed to Medical Group, where he no doubt will meet Dr. Fletcher who had an almost-affair with his daughter. Which is awkward. But if we're really lucky, he'll be charmed by Medical Assistant Jared, and try to set him up with Dawn. So we've come full circle.

So Wilbur is willing to speak with a generic "medical group person" one time? That will be life changing for sure.

I also thought of Medical Assistant Jared and foresee this nebbishy twosome really hitting it off. Kite flying and frolicking on a hillside are just around the corner. And think of the fun when Jared shows Wilbur his Star Wars figures! Hilarity will ensue when Dawn returns from Beautiful Italy and Wilbur introduces her to Jared. ""Dawn, meet your new brother! The fast-track adoption was just finalized!"

Does Medical Group offer physician-assisted suicide services?

The counselor writes something down and hands it to Wilbur. “Here, take this next door to drugstore and have it filled.” “Is this a prescription for antidepressants?” Wilbur asks. “No, you need double-A batteries for your shower radio.”

In the second-floor hallway, Wilbur happens to see Iris coming out of her GYN's office.

"Wilbur, I'm pregnant."

Wilbur does a 180 and heads for the liquor store.

fauxprof, too funny! Wilbur could also use some double - A batteries for his personality, although I am happy to see that he changed his shirt AND happy that we were spared the discussion he and Mary must have had that landed him in front of Medical Group.

My sense is that Wilbur is going to need more than one visit with "an objective observer". (Is that what they're calling psychiatrists now?) The "Objective Observer" is going to listen to his tale of woe and tell him to quit whining. He will tell Mary and Mary will be annoyed that Wilbur did not come to her so she could meddle some more. After all, she has a Ph.D in meddleology.

BTW everyone's comments are stellar. I can't come close to the snark!!!!! (But I'll try LOL)

I have an online certificate in Objective Observation. Wilbur still needs new shoes.

Wilbur's "even if it's just once" reminds me of that Looney Tunes gag where a character drinks gasoline and swallows a lit match. It's a great act... but they can do it only once.

The fact that Wilbur says "only once" pretty much guarantees that we are going to be witnessing his therapy session for weeks and weeks.

Things are looking up!
(Wilbur is looking up, too, in panel two!)

My guess is that Wilbur will walk in to talk to the doctor, and it will be ... FABIANA running a grift as a fake doctor! The administrative assistant will be ... "COUSIN" PEDRO! The only thing wrong with this scenario is that Wilbur will likely have to see "Cousin" Pedro first, before he goes into the office to see Fabiana. Maybe "Cousin" Pedro could be away from his desk so that the shock value of seeing Fabiana (wearing her emerald ring, of course) will be maximized! YESSSSS!!!

I love the other scenarios. They're all really hilarious. Too bad we'll likely get stuck with something much more BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRING!

What will the observer observe?

Okay, Doc, now watch me eat a sandwich.
Now watch me drink a whole bottle of Old MacDonald.
Here’s me pretending to listen to a nosy old busybody,.
This is what it looks like when I write my popular columns—notice how fast I can type.
And here I am pretending how much I miss my daughter Dana, er Dawn.
This is me wearing a Speedo.
Wait, Doc, come back! I’ll pretend to wear board shorts instead. Doc?…Doc?

Mary just talked Wilbur off the edge of the cliff. Wouldn't it have been a good idea to take him to see someone RIGHT AWAY, instead of waiting until the next day? I guess Mary assumes her meddling powers were strong enough to ward off any lingering suicidal tendencies Wilbur might have.

Sheesh.

Great comments, everyone!
