Perfect advice, Mary: "Make the right choice." Very helpful.

“Yes, and I made the RIGHT choice. However, you being the airhead that you are, dear, you’re bound to screw things up and ruin your life. Now hand me that watering can so I can drown these roses.”
Boy, you can’t get lame advice like “you’ll know when you know” from just anyone. You have to go to the Mother of All Meddlers and Keeper of the Cliches, Mary Worth!
What? "You'll know when you know"?! What advice is that? No wonder Dawn looks so dragged out in panel 2. She's not used to having to figure things out on her own.
"My feelings changed after we spent (extremely dull) time together!" That is to say, Dawn's feelings change anytime anyone with a set of XY chromosomes is within social distance of her. Also Dawn, you seem to spend a lot of time with Mary. Have your feelings for her changed?

Do gray roses smell like disappointment? Or like ennui?
@fauxprof, in Mary’s case, both.,
It's hard to believe that given all the time that Dawn has known Mary, she's just learned today that Mary was once married!
Roses, but with iris foliage?

Next Dawn must learn to cross Mary's patio without making a sound, and snatch the salmon from her hand.

Mary won't be able to smell those roses without a nose.
