Mary Worth 3507

I know we were all worried that Store Manager's request yesterday for Tommy to do some heavy lifting would result in some sort of plot development, but we were wrong fortunately. Today we get to enjoy even more introspection and lamentation. Could things get any better??

Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Haven't been home in years for Thanksgiving (long drive, short time off, two families to visit) but when I was there, I remember the crowded kitchen, all the hustle bustle of getting the table ready, last-minute disasters, corraling everyone, and enjoying some outdoors time walking or watching brothers play football. (There were 9 of us.) It was never as drearily perfect as having everyone obediently seated and Mom triumphantly marching in with the bird. Although I wish we had more photos. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you Wanders, I get such a kick out of your good humor and creativity.

Steve, the man to Mary’s left is Dr. Jeff.

Who is the woman between Dawn and Wilbur? That’s not Iris, is it?

Ah, Tommy flirts with disaster by taking his eyes off the strange display he’s working on. I can’t wait for broken glass and a flood of olive oil (that’s what I’m thinking those bottles contain, but this IS the Worthiverse, so who knows) to trip up everyone at Freda’s. Epic! It’ll make the mess in the bathroom at Jerry’s Sandwich Shop pale in comparison.

Thank you for the trip down Joe Giella memory lane, Wanders, and thank you for this matchless blog! Happy Thanksgiving, be it scaled back, masked, and physically distanced, to you and your family, and to all my Worthiverse friends!

Ahhh... Thanks, Wanders, for bringing back the traditional MW Thanksgiving dinner table. I've missed it the last couple of years. Maybe KM is of the Wampanoag Tribe and this has been her way of protesting their treatment by the Pilgrims.

Anyhow... Happy T-Day all! And, BTW, good one, KM. I think you sucker-punched most of us by foreshadowing Tommy moving a heavy display.

@katyb

My childhood memories are similar to yours! Big family; lots of noise, laughing, squabbling, and love; the two best parents anyone could wish for managing to keep the chaos under control; Dad and the boys watching football while Mom and the girls were in the kitchen (and everybody wanted it that way); Mom's cranberry sauce; Dad saying Grace as we all sat around the table; and the after-dinner glow.

I am so thankful for those good times.

Also, I imagine most of us here in WandersLand owe an unpayable debt to our ancestors who came over on the boat a century or so ago. As my Dad used to put it, "They came over here with nothing but their hat and their happy ass." I imagine they were scared, excited, and most of all brave. They gave us the greatest gift we've ever received: the chance to live in America.
