I almost didn't recognize Eve without her nerkerchief. But this explains a lot. Ultimately, they end up beheading each other, but Eve is able to reattach her head using a scarf, which is why she always wears it now, and why
headless manaquins make her cry.

Saul: “Wow, that’s terrible, Eve. I can’t believe Mr. Lourd could be so cruel.”
Eve: “What? Oh, I guess I forgot to tell you. Lourd is my maiden name. I took it back after my husband died. His name was Manny. Manny Quinn.”

Well, Eve, at least Gary had enough respect for you to get dressed up before he yelled at you. That should count for something.

Facial hair! The sign of Evil!
Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"There Were Some Good Times".
"Not."
June was inspired by a legion of B movie villains from the 1940s-1950s for her depiction of the late Gary. BTW, KM annoyed me in a special way today by incorrectly using "my late husband Gary" instead of the correct usage for an appositive, namely "my late husband, Gary." ARGH! This mistake is one of my grammar pet peeves. The only way KM's usage would be correct is if Eve had more than one late husband ("my late husband Gary, my late husband Sidney..."), which would be lots of fun. I'd like to see Saul's reaction to that!
Max has once again morphed into an entirely different dog.
she was married to jerry stiller alias the tripper
I can see how that kind of blood pressure could make your head blow off.
I was thinking he looked like Frank Nelson (Parodied as the "Yes Guy" on the Simpsons), but I agree that he also looks a lot like Jerry Stiller.
Oh, come on. That's obviously Wilt Prisney.
I think it's Cesar Romero, especially in his Batman stint. Also, I feel I should complement June on this. He is quite creepy looking.
I'm still holding out the hope that Eve beheaded him.
SERENITY NOW, PEOPLE! It’s definitely my late favorite actor, Jerry Stiller.
Looks like he is singing to her.
Technical question: Does panel 2 qualify as a thought balloon? I'm thinking not, which will disqualify it for the category during the Worthy Awards. Perhaps it could launch a new category, "Best Graphic Rendering of a Spoken Story". I don't recall seeing this scalloped border around any previous stories, but it could be JB's new thing for 2021. That, of course, would require an actual story to be told by someone, which tends to be as scarce as hens' teeth in the Worthiverse. It appears that Eve's late husband is bucking for a new category also. "Best Performance by a Repulsive, Possibly Beheaded Character".
Why did Steinbrenner trade Jay Number for Ken Phelps?
