Still retired but…

just a note to say thanks for all your kind sentiments and well wishes. You are all amazing.

A friend shared this. Thanks, Oscar.

Dear friends, this is purely coincidental and has nothing to do with Steven leaving, but after blogging about Mary Worth for over 15 years, I need to take a little break. I'm not sure when, or if, I'll return. Everything is fine personally. Things are so great, in fact, that suddenly Mary Worth has little meaning for me anymore. I know, it's hard to believe. So I'm taking a break. I don't know if it will be like Estelle's first few breaks with Wilbur and I will come back at the slightest whiff of Woody's BBQ, or if it will be more like her current break with Wilbur which still has so many unaswered questions. Maybe after a week or two, I'll feel like I can't live without Mary Worth, and I'll return. That wouldn't surpise me. Perhaps all I need is a vacation. But if I don't return, I just want to thank each of you for how much fun you've made this place. I've read every comment you've ever written, and I've laughed and grinned at, well, most of them.

I feel like I'm saying goodbye to friends, and I just want to let you know, in all sincerity how grateful I am for your support during all this time.

People say on the third date, that's when you see a therapist together.

Careful, Estelle, it may just be a hot flash. Hard to tell the difference sometimes.

You didn't, Estelle? Did you even read the website you recommended, Not One More Vet? Or did you just look at the happy pictures?

Ed: "... Willing to have whine with their cheese."

Estelle: "I'm sorry; I don't have any cheese."

I'm sorry, every time Dr. Ed talks about euthanasia, I can only think of this and start laughing:

Gosh, I hope Steven is doing okay. I worry about that kid. He spent years in training, and now he's going to start over. At least I hope he's starting over, and that permanent time-off isn't some sort of euphemism for, you know, moving to West Virginia.

This goes against everything I know about adult cats and dogs. Everything the Humane Society counsels as well. But I guess Ed and 'Stell can move in together.

Dr. Ed, you're going to need to clean your shirt sleeve very carefully.

If this strip has taught me anything, it is that patience doesn't always pay off.

Faint of heart... Is that why Steven took time off? He's faint of heart? I've got a feeling in my tummy-brain that someone better keep a close watch at Lookout Point.

Please don't spill your hot cat coffee on your lap, Estelle! You might drop your phone in it.

I'm fairly certain we are headed toward a thoroughly thought-through and compelling story about the risk of suicide among veterinarians. How many lives will be saved, I do not know. It all depends on how many depressed veterinarians read Mary Worth every day.

I used to take piano lessons as a kid, but I quit because they were so boring to me. So what I really want to do is watch someone else practice the piano. Maybe tomorrow, Estelle can refill the water in her vase. That would be really interesting, too.
