Mary Worth 562

Oh my gosh! There's gonna be a SHAKEDOWN?? In Santa Royale? An actual SHAKEDOWN? In a few weeks! Granted, that's a lot of fine planning by the SRPD, but it'll be worth it. An actual shakedown. This is unbelievable! No, I mean it. It's unbelievable.

I personally do NOT believe it! So will Adrian's heart be broken yet again? I'm all a-tremble!

We all knew that Charley bloke was up to no good. ;)

Whoa, hold on. Not so fast. We have the inside scoop here. Reliable informants have told us why the stains used to color the wood in the plate cabinets at Mary's, the door and door jam and map frame at Headquarters, the tint in Dr. Jeff's hair and that of all the men at the briefing, are all the same. Here is a hint: All of the men have the same tint color as Dr. Jeff. Suspiciously similar to the coat color of Lawrence and Scott.

How about the rest you regulars weighing in on this one?

Dunno about the ink color, but it does seem that the SRPD is NOT integrated. Of course, neither is the rest of Santa Royale...

A shakedown? Just because there's a drop-off, does that automatically mean there's going to be a shakedown? But assuming there will be a shakedown, what if the "perps" move the "goods" from the drop-off to another location so the shakedown can "go down" without any "heat" from "the fuzz"?

Aside from this, is shakedown really the right word? I mean it sounds kinda street and all, especially if the Santa Royale PD's idea of street is lifted from Quinn Martin produced tv shows from the 70s, but isn't a shakedown like one party threatening another party for money (or possibly drugs or other contraband)? Is this really the kind of thing that sources on the street would know about and something the SRPD would need to plan elaborately to intervene in?

If something illegal was dropped off at the warehouse, go make a bust now, unless the SRPD is playing a cat and mouse game trying to lure some bigger fish into the pond before bringing the heat. Maybe the SRPD are going to be the ones doing the shaking down! This whole thing could go a lot deeper than anyone realizes!

But ultimately, what does this have to do with Scott, who only works the emotionally stunted, dimwitted doctors bunco division?

A shakedown!! Could it involve a criminal activity? Is MAry's recipie for salmon squares in danger? Will Adrian be kidnapped? This is better than the season premiere of MANNIX!

I can't wait to see this shakedown...

a warehouse full of stolen, child-scarring art would be good. Also good would be evidence of fraud, forgery, tempered-with public records, and bigamy. Of course there should be, scattered haphazardly on the warehouse floor, empty bottles of booze.
We might witness the arrest of another deadbeat parent charged with failing to pay CHILD SUPPORT.

But what will these criminals look like? Will they be wearing mustaches? Bowling shirts? What color hair will they have? It's all so exciting!

Mary looks like she's feeling sorrowful already. She's got on her black mourning dress, her hanky is out...oh, wait, maybe she's just playing hand puppets with her napkin! Never mind.

For sure SOMEONE will be going to "the Big House"... "The Slammer"... "The Pokey".

I'm not too worried b/c Scott's partner, Det. Green Jacket (remember him?) was one mean-looking, bad a** hombre. He won't let anything bad happen to our golden boy! HE knows how to roll with the big shakedown, doncha' know.

Quite possibly this is setting up for the return of Adrian's Fifty Grand? Now THAT could finance a real nice wedding in Santa Royale! And they could live happily ever after.

I hope the SHAKEDOWN results in discovering the location of the $50,000.

Based on the FLOOR PLAN, this could be one tricky shakedown, as none of the rooms have doors.

You know, I don't see Scott in attendance at that briefing. I think we may have something bigger goin' down here -- like internal corruption within the SRPD. What if beneath Scott's Robert Redford-like exterior he's actually a dirty cop?? I think THAT'S the shakedown they're talking about!

Noooo..the shakedown will happen in a few weeks, what did the crooks do, send out written invitations?

A few weeks in MW time is years in our time, oh, the suffering, the coffee...

Shockingly, there is a female officer in the front row at the debriefing. Don't worry, though, she's just there to take notes.

well, well well. You can never tell.

Who's the cop with the brown hanky over his head? I hope he doesn't get shot during the shaking.

The online dictionary defines "shakedown" thusly:

shake·down (shkdoun)
n.
1. Slang Extortion of money, as by blackmail.
2. Slang A thorough search of a place or person.
3. A period of appraisal followed by adjustments to improve efficiency or functioning.

I imagine in the Worthiverse, the third definition is the one that is being used.

Paul Pennington: Not to worry, as Officer Redford buys his hair color at the House Depot, in those little sample cans. He is ready to change his looks to fight any unorthodox meter maid.

I am worried about the "fuzz" in SR. They aren't taking notes about the SHAKEDOWN, which is a few weeks away. The Policeman's Ball must fall on the same day...and they have tickets to sell!

Whoever is being SHAKED DOWN, take it from Chester here, you have nithing to worry about.

Who knew that Santa Royale was such a hotbed of criminal activity? Maybe someone will get shot in the 'shakedown' and Adrian will get to do some doctoring...and Mary will visit the patient and insist that the antibiotics be increased. lol

It also occurred to me that if anything happened to Scott, Adrian and Charley could get together.

The shakedown is due "in a few weeks!" I assume that these are Mary-Worth weeks, which are to terrestrial weeks as centuries are to decades. Does anyone care to predict whether the "shakedown" will occur (a.) by Thanksgiving, (b.) by Christmas, or (c.) by Groundhog Day.
