Mary Worth 790

Hey, I'm beginning to get the idea that these fireworks are some sort of metaphor. "It's starting..." could be a symbolic statement in reference to Doctor Mike's and Jenna's new romantic attraction towards one another. And like any exploding rocket, it's going to be over in just a few moments.

Probably as soon as Doctor Mike notices that Jenna left her dentures in the restaurant.

Ahh! True Love! At Last.

At Last Lyrics by Etta James

At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers
The night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine
At last

Is that all there is (to the current story line)? Surely, something will go wrong for the love-at-first-sight couple. It's all been too fast, too...unrealistically simple. Or has this story just been intended to be a reminder of Mary's ability to manipulate lives?

(Can't wait to see how the fireworks appear in my black & white newspaper today.)

I will never look at the Fourth of July the same again, after going through this ultra-trite story line. Moy, you've ruined my favorite holiday...

Oh, and djangosmom - I love that song. Thanks for printing the lyrics. They are so beautifully written, unlike Moy's strip.

ne better be pushing her off the pier .whats the point of this story we need action . at least adrian would disconnect her head in the park when she was courting officer scott

I don't believe the lost-dentures line for a moment. It's not like they ate anything that required chewing, from what I could see.

But I do agree that something evil this way must come. We just can't see the maybe-offspring lurking in the shadows or the mounds of compulsively purchased boxes.

p.s. word verification is "queal." C'mon now, queal for me!

Aww, it's just like an episode of ''Love American Style''!

Beautiful, Djangosmom, thank you. It's nice to know that these two have found each other, but shouldn't there be a dead body or something?

This has been much too boring (and "boring" for a Mary Worth strip is a relative term). Surely Jenna or Dr. Mike has to have a serious issue (like an aggressive parent who forces them to skate nonstop, or a con-artist sibling who works for Nations Geography magazine) that will cause problems for their relationship. Perhaps Jenna will turn out to be too clingy for Dr. Mike, leading to wise counsel by Mary over some baked goods.

The Santa Royale fireworks must be very lame b/c in our town the traffic is all backed up on the Fourth and there are people EVERYWHERE!! I should think a nice pier like that would be IDEAL for watching fireworks! But, no, I don't see any kids, and only a few other observers. Lame.

Are we sure those Easter egg/metaphor things are actually fireworks? Because they look to me like sea anemones killing themselves by leaping as high out of the water as they could. And wouldn't you do the same, if you were just lying there, minding your own business, and suddenly that pair of extremely boring counselors started talking right next to you? I mean, look at how fast the pier emptied of other people!

@Imogene -- If I were a sea anemone I would even kill myself over that gaudy suit Dr. Mike is wearing! It's as bad as tar balls and oil sheen!

Oooooooh! Ahhhhhh!

I'm not in awe of the fireworks; these are just the snoring noises I always make when I pass out from boredom.

Great story, Mary! SUSPENSE!

The new storyline is finally coming to me. The whole crowd will be blinded watching the fireworks and Santa Royale will be attaced by walking plants and it's "Day of the Triffids" all over again.

Of COURSE, people! This story line is beyond insipid, so something's coming ... (apologies and credits to Sondheim/Bernstein)

Could be!
Who knows?
There's something due any day;
I will know right away,
Soon as it shows.
It may come cannonballing down through the sky,
Gleam in its eye,
Bright as a rose!

Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Under a tree.
I got a feeling there's a miracle due,
Gonna come true,
Coming to me!

Could it be? Yes, it could.
Something's coming, something good,
If I can wait!
Something's coming, I don't know what it is,
But it is
Gonna be great!

You know, djangos, I always heard that lyric as "At last, my love has come and gone," which made no sense to me. However, it soon might make to Dr. Pumpkin Jacket and Ms. Scrunchie. At least temporarily. Give me some conflict already!
