Wanders, your secret message had me rolling on the floor.

I bet the cyclone survivors will be thrilled and delighted to have Wilbur show up to bother them as they pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. What could be more helpful, right?

Prepare for days of Mary balancing her peculiar laptop on her knees, spouting cliches to hapless "Ask Wendy" correspondents. "Dear Wendy, I just met a new man who makes me laugh, but he unexpectedly left the country after stiffing me for our lunch tab!"

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Wilbur Leaves On A High Note".

Father airport?
Hurry, Mozambique!
"Ask Wendy" cyclone survivors?
Love whenever!

WHOA, so much to digest here! We're not used to this. We're used to Dawn with a rose up her nose for three days.

Anyhow, Wilbur was in such a hurry to leave he couldn't even set up a replacement? What if Mary had said, "No, I can't. I've got a million muffins to bake"?

So who sent Wilbur to Mozambique? The CIA? That's it, isn't it? Wilbur's a master spy.

Well, okay, that's not it at all.

So what's going on in Mozambique right now that requires an urgent visit from Speedo Man? There's the usual political unrest and border tensions. Mozambique just received a $420 million grant from the World Bank to strengthen its electrical system. A new natural gas project was just approved that promises to enhance the country's economy. A vast mayonnaise deposit was discovered in the central highlands. Hmmm, what could it be?

Oops, forget my entire post. I read right over the cyclone survivors part. Guess I couldn't process so much happening in one strip.

Looking forward to the muffin meeting between Estelle and Mary where Estelle will talk about how her beautiful man is in Mozambique helping cyclone victims.

When I read this, I thought to myself "Haven't those poor cyclone survivors been through enough without some bald headed weirdo eating a mayonnaise sandwich questioning them?"

There really was a cyclone in Mozambique and of course KM, in her continuing poor taste, adds Wilbur to the mix with a "page ripped from the headlines" story.

I want to know exactly what kind of paper Wilbur works for that he can jump up and leave at any given moment and give his column to someone who doesn't even work for the newspaper. I've lived on this earth a pretty long time and I'm positive that when Dear Abby goes on vacation, she doesn't give her column to her next door neighbor. Mary isn't even good at it. She mulls over a letter for two weeks and answers it with her ridiculous, smug platitudes.

I wish Estelle WOULD write to Dear Wendy (Since she and Wilbur are "taking it slow", he hasn't told her that he's a man that writes a column under a woman's name) saying that she misses her "beautiful man" and what should she do. Mary will pull a page out of the Bible, saying "Love is patient, love is kind".

Wanders, your secret message was too funny!! You and Nance always knock it out of the park.

Wait til Wilbur emails Estelle that his camera was accidentally destroyed and he needs a loan to finish his interviews.

What will Estelle do if Wilbur asks for $10K so that he can return to Santa Royale?

Also, there were no chin napkins at the Bum Boat - actually there were no napkins at all. I was in China recently and most restaurants we went to didn't provide napkins - the customers all carried little packs of napkins with them (my sister-in-law gave me a pack when I arrived).

r u ok? that actually made me laugh out loud. But Estelle’s met Wilbur — maybe she’ll pay him not to come back instead.

I'd like to know who Mary's looking at in panel two. Has Ted the Character come back? Or is Mary one of those people who doesn't like eye contact?

Mary has noticed that Carmen Sandiego has come to demand the return of her hat. Run, Mary, run like the wind!

@Nance, "Love whenever!" is the perfect summation of this point in Wilbur and Estelle's epic romance, as he jets off to Mozambique without her.

Those poor Mozamibicans. I'm sure the absolute last thing they need is some ignorant American bugging them and trying to profit off of their misery. Hopefully, someone will tell him to @#$# off.
