Mary Worth 1,276

Is it Hobo Joe or D-Dan Smithers crouching behind Nola and handing her a cup of coffee?

Today's Full Strip

As the Charterstone complex slips further into the fault line, Nola continues her heroic effort to counterbalance the slide with the ponderous weight of her monologue.

I noticed in yesterday's strip that the coffee was gray. Either Nola likes a whole lotta cream, or she's been talking so long a mold has developed.

Seriously? A full week and still rehashing this? Not enough salmon squares and clear coffee to get me through this.

I'm with heydave @ 7:44 AM - the prospect of another week of this is a grim outlook indeed. The gloom will only lift if a peeved Mary tosses the content of her cup in Nola's face: "I spent two weeks arguing with you in a rotating restaurant, yet it took a drunken rant and a hobo to make you see the light?! Go back to your fabulous apartments, you ingrate!"

Oh yes, we must keep rehashing. First, Nola must live it. Meanwhile, Jeff and Mary must ponder it. Now, Nola must retell it. All in an effort to keep us on the edge of our seats! Or deep in our comas...

Are Nola and Mary finished with their colorless pie yet? I think it is made with gelatin and Karo syrup.

@Elaine: ...and then Mary must repeat the story to Toby.

Mary usually likes to compete with story telling. I'm betting Mary will interrupt Nola at any minute to one-up Nola's story with one of her own, "Oh yeah, decades ago I had three hobos asking if I was okay and two drunks ranting at me to wake me up . . . "

Nola has exchanged the small hoop earrings she wore yesterday with her button earrings. That mysterious hand is downright creepy. Thanks, Wanders, for pointing it out.

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, but the explanatory message in the first panel should have said, "FOR several weeks, Nola tells Mary what happened.", since for us, it really is several weeks.

Also, did else anyone notice the recycled artwork in the first panel on Saturday, which was originally used on 3/26? This happens frequently in the Gil Thorp strip, but I have never noticed it in Mary Worth before.

(Evidently, I'm a bit dyslexic today.)

Thorp@10:14 AM. That's definitely a rehash of the art, but I feel it is justified in that Nola is having a flashback. Once we had a flashback where the art was noticeably different:

Mr. & Mrs. Bonnie Johnson's apartment window was rehashed at least three time!

And I always loved these rehashes of Ron Amalfi:

I always get a little kick out of shortcuts like these, so thanks for noticing it.

Thanks for those links, Wanders. Obviously, I have not been following the Worthiverse as long as you have...

Mary will soon interrupt Nola with, "that's very nice, Nola...glad you shifted inside and all that... but did you hear about that little Goleta girl that got kidnapped? Let me tell you all about what I did..."

Perhaps now Mary will do a PSA about speaking to strangers, thus further drawing out this storyline and providing more sage advice to her avid readers. I know I'm more savvy about identity theft and kidnapped children, thanks to her!

There was a kidnapping? Now that really makes me shift inside.
