Mary Worth 582

300 pounds? My guess is that's like $15 million on the street. But I'd think you might want more than a van load of six cops on job like that. At least they arranged for backup after the shooting stopped.

Now, will Adrian be able to perform the life saving surgery? I'm starting to weep already.

I think Colleague is dead; his femoral artery was severed by the bullet and he bled out before anyone could help him, since for some reason they didn't arrange for EMS backup ahead of time.

Scott will live, even though he appears to have been shot in the back of the head, since the hair gel he borrowed from Adrian deflected the bullet.

I agree--Colleague is the dead one. Adrian will only need to stitch Scott's ear back on, bring him out of the coma and then she can show him the ring! yippee!

That unmarked van is very low budget and if I were a citizen of SR, I'd be demanding an accounting for just WHERE the money is being spent in that police dept!
As someone else mentioned, the very IDEA--poor dead Colleague's body and injured Scott, rolling around in the back of that ugly van with 300 pounds of heroin and filthy stacks of money. Unthinkable! And Chief Big Pockets is probably knocking back brewskis at Oktoberfest, thinking "ain't life grand!"

I cannot wait to see what Adrain changed into during her coffee break, in her car.

She will not marry Scott, and Scott will agree. How can you love someone when their lives are in danger every day, just like Adrians patients.

This is a hoot! 300 lbs.of heroin? My lord whats the biggest haul ever? Dosen't this make the French Connection look punny in comparrison? Why, this might make the evening news in SR.
And now we are going to enjoy a week of wondering just how bad Scott's injuries are. Maybe if we all clap our hands Scott will get better by Sunday!

Maybe Adrian could operate and somehow the engagement ring could accidently end up being sewn inside of Scott.

Imagine the fun trying to find it again.

Come on, amnesia!

"Engaged? Thank you for saving my life but -- why would I marry a total stranger..?"

We will probably find out that the police at the scene "overestimated" the amount of H and it will turn out to be about 10 pounds when it arrives at the evidence room. The "cash" will turn out to be garbage bags similar to those found in any dumpster.

In other news, several police officers are retiring early to spend more time with their families.

The newspaper publishes a letter to the editor complaining about the noise level in the area.

That poor nurse in the background stands aghast at the scene! What does she see that we don't? What would shock a hospital emergency staff to this degree? What has each of these dark-haired medical men so upset that they too can only stare in response or call home for comfort?

Wait a minute... Is that Dead Colleague pushing Scott's gurney?

You know it's BAD when the ER doctor looks scared to death and the nurse covers her mouth as if she's going to vomit!

Goodness sakes, in times of extreme crisis situations in ER, staffs spring into action like well-oiled machines. They SURE don't stand around in horror like that, staring at the patients' boots! Of course, this IS Mountview Hospital. I keep forgeting.

Someone should tell the hospital that IV fluids come in bags now, not bottles. Wonder when that bottle of fluid expired?

Maybe the doctor in the foreground looks so shocked because he knows that Adrian will be treating this patient...

I don't think Adrian is "tending to her patient", it looks more like she is looking for his credit card information.

Wait, she is covering for Eva, so it is really Eva's patient!

You are all right about that poor nurse in panel 2. Her "nursing by email" course never prepared her for anything so horrifying!

Love that one of the doctors is checking his cell phone for voicemail while rushing along with the gurney. That is multi-tasking, people!

I can't believe the SRPD didn't call for an ambulance for the 2 downed officers. That is pure negligence. Paramedics should be checking vitals or starting and I.V. or something that needs doing right away instead of waiting to get to the E.R. Valuable minutes have been lost! Scott surely needs attention immediately. I am sure that when Mary sees him she will ask for his antibiotics to be increased! I am appalled at the conduct of the officers at the shakedown.

I like the way the downed officer is coyly being wheeled in feet first to prolong the identity question for another day. Bit pointless really as even if we could see his face we wouldn't be able to tell the difference!

@ Caroline... I laughed out loud. So true.
