Mary Worth 3180

Look at all the people with their pointy finger in the air chanting, "We're number one! We're number one!" at the fish.

I want to add that I've been to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I usually don't enjoy aquariums but this one is really spectacular and fun. If Aquarium is modeled after the Georgia Aquarium, those are supposed to be whale sharks, and this room is truly beautiful.

Possible translation of today’s dialogue:

Dawn: Fish are contented creatures with no dreams. I am a human and I am better than fish because I have dreams.

Hugo: If the dreams are about me, forget it.

Cue “Swingin’ On A Star”: If that kind of life is what you wish
You may grow up to be a fish...

"They don't belong in other tanks, their world is their tank. They accept it..." So, Hugo, mon cher, this means nobody can ever marry a foreigner and move to another country? Seems we've been going about this all wrong, instead of building walls we need to build fish tanks.

SUNDAY

And Hugo dumps another million gallons of cold seawater on Dawn's dreams of a future with him.

Seen in isolation, panel #4 of today's strip is absolutely hilarious. To paraphrase . . .

DAWN: "Hugo, I madly and hopelessly worship you and the very ground you walk on. I yearn to have your children and spend eternity with you."

HUGO: "Hey, would you look at that fish! That's some fish, huh? Boy, what a great fish."

“Who’s Frank Crane?” I asked myself. Per Wikipedia, Frank Hall Crane was an American actor and director who died in 1948. KM’s quote of the week popped right up. I’d like to ask Mr. Crane where the sweet spot between deception and torment is, because it sounds mighty risky with little room for error.

If “colorful and interesting” is the only description Hugo can come up with, it appears he’s ready to return to Paris ASAP. Dawn should swear off men and get some fish.

My husband, who is not always insightful into what people are thinking, read today's strip and said, "He's getting ready to dump her."

I'm thinking, no big loss. How long have they known each other? A week?

The quote of the week is from someone named Frank Crane. Hugo dumps a candid assessment on Dawn's head. Is Karen Moy more clever than we thought, or do I have issues?

Never mind, time to Frenchie bash:
"Cineaqua has the biggest collection of jellyfish in Europe. "
"Does that include the French Army? "
