Thank heaven it isn't menopause!

Judging by Iris's appearance today, she may have passed the point of no return. Zak looks frazzled too - is Hashimoto's contagious? At least the lovebirds are wearing different clothes (good riddance to that turtleneck!). Dr. Howard either hasn't changed his shirt or he has a closet full of turquoise ones.

In Dr. Howard's first appearance last week he resembled Henry Winkler, but since then I note a Mitt Romney vibe.

It sounds wonderfully exotic — Hashimoto’s! — and is it always presented with a possessive? “Why, yes — I have Hashimoto’s and it’s all mine!

Needless to say, Mary Worth knew it was Hashimoto’s all along — but if she had told Iris, she’s had never believed her. It’s sort of a Wizard of Oz thing: Iris needed to truly believe in her thyroid, and hear the answer from a man, because men know everything and especially man-doctors, who know especially everything.

Iris, your insurance doesn’t cover this.

Is Moy going to spend all week discussing Iris' treatment plan in the mistaken belief that this would be somehow interesting? Let's hope not.

BTW, Wanders, I belatedly nominate last week's "Beedie the Hutt" panel for Panel of the Year.

So apparently the treatment is hormones, and/or life-long medication... and then there's "a wait-and-see approach". https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hashimotos-disease/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20351860

So I guess this is gonna be a week(s)-long PSA. When does the phrase "synthetic levothyroxine" show up?

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed that Iris was "enciente" (to coin the I Love Lucy episode title). I think all kinds of hilarity would have ensued with middle aged Iris taking care of three children (the baby, Tommie and Zak.) But then, we still have Estelle and the baby Wilbur quadruplets.

I didn't read the dialogue box this morning and was amazed how fast Iris had gotten her results. Like everyone has said, let's be prepared for a whole week of Iris and Dr. Moe talking about treatment and diet and exercise and every other inane thing while Zak sits and looks dumbfounded.

Well, shucks! I was totally on the Preggers Express. I was looking forward to Iris bringing a new baby into the aged community. Not that Zak would have stuck around to be a daddy.
