"I prefer 2001: l'odyssée de l'espace."

So now we can extrapolate the lag time between Story to Print. The Sony slash Star Wars pop-up exhibit in New York ran last December when anyone could enjoy NYC (In fact, my family did). There's a pandemic coming, and these two kids don't even know. When Dawn has to start video chatting with both Hugo AND Jared, that's when it will get real.

Thanks for providing clarity on the time setting, Wanders. Hugo would be excited as heck if he came across a Jerry Lewis pop-up exhibit.

It’s only a matter of time before Dawn thinks, “Reminds me of Jared.”

"Dawn, I don't understand. Why would I do something that I'm not interested in? Do you expect me to do it just because you are interested in it? What is the sense in that? Why should I be unhappy just to make you happy? I'm afraid you don't understand relationships very well."

And Dawn gets hit in the face with a big ol' candid cream pie.

Darnit, I meant clarity cream pie. Or cream of clarity pie. Or something. I didn't think it through enough. Oh well.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"It's Not Like It's A Truffaut Exhibit".

Oh, look!
Not!
Okay...

I think the sign behind Hugo could be "Tattoo Parlor".

That's why he's not interested?

Thanks Wanders for the clarification as well. I was in NY in February (saw David Allen Grier, Blair Underwood and Jerry O'Connell in A Soldier's Play-excellent!) and I didn't see anything like that. Once again, KM is on the pulse of what's going on in the world. She'll probably be talking about the pandemic two years from now.

I was looking at CP3O and thought of something naughty and not family friendly. I'll clean it up the best I can. He looks like he's getting goosed by R2D2. The look on his face is priceless.

I see Dawn is rethinking the "madly and deeply in love thing". She is such a dolt. He was always commenting how great everything is in France and and it didn't annoy her then, why is it annoying her now? I'm betting she will tell Hugo that she has been rethinking their romance and he will tell her that he has found love back in Gay Purree with Mewsette.

P.S. Another home run, Nance!

Dawn: Oh Jared, Darling, Dear. It’s our 50th anniversary tomorrow. I see there’s a 24-hour Star Wars-a-Thon on television. Wouldn’t it be exciting to watch it in celebration of all these wonderful years we’ve spent together?

Jared: What? I can’t hear you.

Dawn: Dear, Darling, you are wearing your hearing aids, aren’t you?

Jared: Whassat?

Dawn: I said it’s our 50th anniversary tomorrow, Darling, Dear. Wouldn’t you like to watch all those old Star Wars movies again? I mean, we’ve only seen them 122 times.

Jared: I’m gonna need some clean underwear today. You doin’ the wash?

Dawn: Oh, Darling, Dear. I thought you promised me that if I gave up my dreams of a romantic life with Hugo in Paris, you would always remember our Star Wars moments. I mean, it was the only thing we had in common. I thought that tomorrow we might rekindle the romance in our marriage; you know, play with our little “Princess Leia and Han Solo action figures?” Tee hee hee.

Jared: Whadja say? Your not doin’ the wash until tomorrow?

Oh! And BTW... What's with "the next day" business? How about "last night"?! We got robbed, friends. Robbed!

I like how Hugo dressed in the same colors he saw on Dawn and in her bedroom when they face-timed, zooted, skanked, or whatever you call it. This color scheme is such a constant that reading the strip is like looking at the Jeopardy set. This week, BTW, Jeopardy has been airing the college championship matches. Wouldn't Dawn make a great contestant!

Dawn: You COULD go in by yourself and have Hugo wait in the car, or across the street.

When I visited Paris Disney some years ago, C3PO did speak French. I enjoyed it so much I filmed it. But of course, C3PO speaks thousands of languages. His French is the best though (of course).

I was re-reading the last couple of weeks of this blog (to see all the secret messages I had missed. Long story), and saw that on April 7 Dawn told Hugo she would meet him in New York during her spring break. That means she is currently taking part in the historic I'm-Young-And-Immortal-So-Let's-All-Spread-The-Plague Event of 2020. Party like it's 1918, kids!

Sorry for the double post. Getting used to a new computer is a female dog.

It's all part of the Long Story.

OK OK, I think we can all see where this is going. Dawn finds clarity, decides Jared is a much nicer and more thoughtful guy than snooty Hugo, dumps Hugo, and promptly falls in love with the man sitting next to her on her flight back from New York. Clarity recedes into the distance again and more muffins, flower-watering, and inane thought-ballooning ensue. You heard it here first.

HOW many days will Dawn be in New York? I predict we will finally see her at the airport alone on Monday, with Hugo too busy to have seen her off. Cue Patsy Cline singing, "Back in Baby's Arms".

If Dawn could lose the Family Friendly writing, and say what's really going on, she could go home happy any day. (And not lose a night)

I'm disappointed that Jared didn't get the floating-head treatment in panel 2. Handsome, Suave, and Selfish still leads, 1-0.

And I agree with Helen. We were cheated out of knowing what the sleeping arrangements are.
