Is Eve speaking about her and Max, or does she always use plural pronouns when she talks about herself? Because I would really enjoy that.

Eve is referring to herself, Max—and her adult son Timmy. She moved from Philadelphia to support him after he was paroled from San Quentin for drug dealing. He calls her “Ma”.

Yup, just like all dogs I've ever encountered - sniffing each other's noses.

I first thought Saul referred to himself as a "Cannie" rather than "Canine." The "i" was almost hidden in the word balloon. I thought a cannie was then supposed to be a sub-class of Furries. I wonder if Saul has a fursuit in his closet?

"I'm Saul. It's a pleasure to meet other Cannies. Do you want to scritch?"

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"1970 AI Coding Experiment: Chatbots Learn".

From?
Philadelphia.
Eve. Dog lover!
Saul. Other and!

For what it's worth, she's not wearing a ring.

Saul's trying to show off his vocabulary by saying "canine." He also correctly says "Greta and me" rather than "Greta and I." He's not only studly, he's studious.

We will soon see if Eve has anything further to say about the place she left behind, as did WC Fields, who famously lampooned Philadelphia with an imagined epitaph he didn't end up using. "I'd rather be living in Philadelphia". My guess is no, but the suspense is killing me. Also, a nod to Nance for your talent in always finding the funniest, often most esoteric take on what looks like just a few words in bold print in a comic strip. You are a gem, and your BFH interpretations make my day.

Scottie McW, thank you for putting "studlious" in my mind.

@LouiseF--I'm blushing, truly. Thank you! You just made MY day. And I needed it today.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words yesterday and other days I may have missed them or failed to comment. I'm trying to unplug more and enjoy Real Life after I've had my coffee.

Survival, you know.

I noticed in the second panel Eve has taken off her scarf. Is she telling Saul something? Perhaps she's secretly being seduced by his studliness, as Scottie McW has pointed out. We're in trouble if Saul takes off his bow tie.

Scottie McW, I still think it's "Greta and I", but Saul didn't get whacked by the nuns in Catholic school LOL.

Your comment made me actually go back and look, and really, I'm not sure that she has removed her scarf. I think maybe June just omitted putting a bit of it in that frame. Perhaps we will find out tomorrow.
Ooooh, it's almost like awaiting something interesting!!

Regina Wolfe-Parks, I can't let this slip: If you take Greta out of the picture and, thus, "Greta and" out of Saul's craftily worded sentence, you will see that only "me" will work. You would never say, "It's a pleasure for I to meet whomever." Objective form!

That's right, Vince. "Greta and me" is the subject of a prepositional phrase, thus me is proper.

Hold out your hand, Regina.

Regina... I'm thinking that Saul probably didn't attend Catholic school. Well, maybe university after he'd changed his name to Paul?

Duh, I mean "object" of a prepositional phrase.

I'll hold my hand out too. Bring on the ruler, Sister.
